Hola! I was born and raised in Madrid. My uncle, a cultured man, took me since I was 6 years old to galleries and museums in Madrid and towns around. I was astonished and marveled by all the artifacts and weird things I discovered at that age. Those feelings made me pick a History of Art Major when I entered University. Once I got the degree I began travelling a lot throughout the world as a Tour Manager. I loved that life, very dynamic and full of exciting experiences. Contacting other cultures is the real university of life. But, when I was around 30 years old, I began missing home, family and friends. And I had something else in mind too. I felt frustrated that not many foreigners knew Madrid and its treasures. That's not possible, I thought!I have to do something about it. My goal and proposal: after all my travelling experiences I would love to make you feel my hometown Madrid in a different perspective rather than the typical tour I myself have experienced in many places around the world. Of course, the highlights should be visited, that's why they are so popular and breathtaking but also, if you let me, I want to introduce you to the real daily life of madrileños(Madrid locals), how we think, how we socialize and, last but not least, what we eat and drink. After so many years travelling, I realized the listener is vital. Each person has different interests and background, I adapt the visit so everyone can enjoy this marvelous Museum. Madrid is a combination of monumental boulevards and magnificent buildings built in the recent centuries and a charming small old town with buildings and spaces from the Middle and Modern Age. A good end will be a look out point to appreciate the city skyline.
Ernesto knows art!! We spent 2 hours in the Prado and he taught me so much about the paintings that we viewed. He guided us through different art periods in a way that let us see changes and also explore a lot of the museum in a short time. One can spend days there. Ernesto is well traveled, friendly, easy to talk with, and wants to make the tour fun and interesting. I highly recommend any tour with him, and especially this one.
Ernesto has an unbelievable level of knowledge with regard to the Prado and all the art within. he is a walking encyclopedia of the great masters and he mentions footnotes of sorts about paintings even when just passing by them. i learned a wealth of information about Spain, the Kings, the famous masters and how Spain was interconnected with Europe at large. Ernesto is very comfortable to be with. this is the tour guide you want to hire!
Ernesto is a guide I would HIGHLY recommend. We used his services for THREE days on three separate tours. His knowledge of his tours is impressive; its clear he studied art and history. His English is wonderful: Clear, loud and NO PROBLEMS with understanding him. He's clearly bilingual.

And afterwards, a deep dive into the Muslim foundations and urban development of the city walking around some of the oldest streets in the heart of Madrid in the most remarkable quarters: Austrias and Huertas .
