Hola! My name is Carmen M, I was born and raised in Madrid and I am working as a guide since 2003 (I do not even want to think how long this is!) I got my license as Oficial Guide of Madrid in 2017. I started working as a guide when I was in college, I am a licensed Architect so I always loved art, culture. . . and as you will see also love talking to people, food, nature, so even before I finished my studies I knew what I wanted to do when I get older, and this was to show people around not only the big monuments or masterpieces but also those special details that makes our city Madrid and the ones around so special. No matter how many times I visit those places I am always fascitated. My first contact with the world of tourism was as a Tour Director, I traveled to many places all over the world, and I always loved the local guides who were explaining about their cities, and I even although I love traveling and meeting new places after some years doing that job I decided I wanted to stay closer to family, friends. . . and show my own world to the people visiting us. Madrid has so much to offer you should think about staying longer (no matter how long you plan to stay)! I also enjoy Nature very much, specially the mountains, great views, silence, fresh air. . . and we are lucky Madrid is a very green city and with beautiful Natural Parks very close to the center. Prado Museum is the best Museum of the country. The amazing Royal Collection that has been gathered for centuries and opened to the public more that two hundred years ago. We will enjoy a visit in the museum where you will be able to enjoy a selection of the most important paintings and paintors in history that will make you understand the importance of art in the creation of the image of our Royal Family and how the sent message to the people, other monarquies or other artist using art. But if you have any special interest in a particular period in art we can always customize the visit. Once we are done with the gallery or before depending on the situation we can go for a walk in the old town of Madrid or we can take a bit of fresh air and enjoy the former Royal gardens of the Retiro Palace now knowns as the Retiro Park, the favourite place of the locals!
Carmen was a wonderful tour guide. The weather was very rainy so we had to adjust accordingly but we were able to get a good sense of the city and it's rich history from Carmen. And her knowledge of art history is expansive and she gave us such a better understanding of the context and meanings of the art we were viewing. Highly recommend!
Carmen was awesome! She is very knowledgeable about art history and we all felt like we came away from the Prado visit having understood so much more than we would have without a guide. She took us on a nice tour of Madrid as well, and gave us some great recommendations for dining and other actitivities. This is a great tour!
Carmen is fantastic, select her. I sent her a list of artists we wanted to focus on, and she arranged the tour efficiently within the museum but also in increasing artistic sophistication of the artists. We learned so much about the artists, their techniques and how the times and their personalities influenced their art. Our visit was excellent and too short! She speaks excellent English and could sense when we should stop, even if we didn't think so! We then took a walk in the old town learning more,

Carman is a very knowledgeable guide; she really helped us to understand the pairings, artist, and a bit about Spanish history! We highly recommend her tour of the Prada to anyone going there. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk through Old Town and all of the information about the area. She is friendly, professional, and very responsive to our questions and preferences. A lovely day in Madrid!
Depending on your interest we can use these four hours in different ways. I can pick you up in the hotel and do a walking tour from there to the Museum looking for the most iconic places in the old town or we can start in the museum and do it after it so you are fresh for the museum and we finish in the old town where you can have lunch or we can then recharge our batteries in the beautiful Retiro Park.
