Hola!! My name is Gonzalo, and I am an official tour guide in Madrid. I also tour to everywhere that you need to discover surrounding Madrid: Toledo, Segovia, Ávila, El Escorial and Valley of the Fallen… I was born in Madrid, the capital of this amazing country. I was formerly an actor for 15 years (and I need to recognize that I am still a little bit of it). But then I decided to change my career, changing fictional stages to some of the best world and national heritages, and deciding that my new audience was going to be you! How many times am I guiding at the Royal Palace and I think: "Gonzalo, you are lucky, you work at the best office ever!"? I have been working as a local tour guide for 7 years now, delivering more than one thousand tours. Yes… I was busy… I think that the key is passion. Everything is about passion… I am a constant learner, autodidact freak, and probably my main passion is to learn new things, but the best part is to spread that knowledge. I love to communicate, trying to make easier and entertaining what seems to be difficult. I have found that history and art are both a challenge to understand people and societies, but also something fascinating that enrich our lives. I want you to not get overwhelmed at Prado Museum but seeing how history comes to life… I want you to feel like a King or Queen walking at theirs gardens in Retiro Park… Imagining how were the lifes in Toledo during the Middle Ages… Or recreating in your mind the tiny Arab citadel that was Madrid in its origins… As a good friend of mine told me once, when someone is receiving a relevant message, her eyes are shinning, and when I'm doing my work that's my main goal: that spark in your eyes. When you arrive to a new city you want to know where to start. This is a perfect tour to start from scratch. I've created this tour to understand Madrid, to see the fundamentals in Hapsburg's Madrid (the old town), to visualize much better the rest of the city and potential plans, and most important: to enjoy and learn a lot walking through the very alive old streets of Madrid!! In addition to that, we'll visit the place where most of Spanish kings lived in. I don't want to be only 'your guide', I want to take you in a magical trip through these medieval narrow streets, tell you the amazing and terrible stories of the +400 year old Plaza Mayor, converse about our local life in Madrid, cross a lovely food market, understand the original Arab Madrid full of water, nature and defensive walls, and finally visit inside the Royal Palace from the 1700's (Napoleon even said to his brother Joseph: 'your palace is much better than mine') Sounds good? We have never been to Madrid before and Gonzalo was the perfect person to escort us around the old city. The walking tour was wonderful as he did a great job of orienting us to the area. And there were lots of tips about best restaurants, bakeries, and chocolate shops. The palace tour was great as he pointed out many things we would have missed on our own. We strongly recommend booking him if you can .

We had such a great time on our walking tour of Madrid with Gonzalo! He brought the city to life with all the little details you’d never notice on your own — from the stories behind statues and architecture at Plaza Mayor to quirky bits of history tucked into everyday corners. He also surprised us with a stop at a local bakery for a sweet treat (his recommendation was spot on!) and even offered restaurant tips for dinner later that night, which turned out great. Our visit to the Royal Palace of Madrid was a highlight. Gonzalo made the history feel accessible and entertaining, and his sense of humor kept the tour light and engaging. I joked that I wanted to see all 3,000+ rooms, and he was game, though we ran out of time!
