My name is Sara. I am licensed guide in Madrid and the sorrounding areas. I hold a masters degree in Fine Arts and since I can remember art, languages, culture and history have been passions. I spent my college years in Madrid. Later I developed a career as an Art Educator and I had brief but fulfilling experiences in Tourism and Outreach. Ultimately, my nomadic spirit pushed me to live and work in other places. Italy, the Basque Country, and the USA were part of this fascinating journey. I returned to Madrid in 2019 after 10 years outside with a renewed appreciation and love for my place. I started guiding in 2016. Immediately I knew I was made for it. Today I feel so blessed to have been able to transform my passion for travel and knowledge into a way of living! Facilitating the discovery and enjoyment of my country to others is a real privilege. Madrid has so much to offer and is full of contrasts. It is a cosmopolitan metropolis, but some neighborhoods still preserve the atmosphere of a little quaint town. Its architecture and museums are incredible, its cultural and entertainment options seem endless and its surrounding areas are magnificent. But what makes Madrid really fascinating is its vibrant energy and its way of life. Let me help you to make the most of your stay, sharing the history, art, traditions, gastronomy, and vitality of my land with you. Let me show you how we are, and why this place is so special. I am looking forward to meeting you here and showing you around. I can offer you a private and customized experience that suits your needs, so don't hesitate to ask me about any modifications in my listed tours. I am also more than happy to work for families, offering a fun and educational experience for the young ones too! I am an Official Spanish Guide able to guide in all the National Museums and National Heritage sites. I can organize tours in all the museums, palaces, and districts of the capital. I hold an Official Guide License to guide Toledo's monuments. I can also guide in all Madrid's fascinating surrounding sites like Segovia, Escorial, Aranjuez, and many more. Although I can drive, I prefer to focus on my guide functions, but I can arrange for a car and professional driver.

I invite you to visit the heart of Madrid with me, its oldest neighbourhood. This is the area around the Royal Palace plus some of its major monuments, known as the "Habsburg district", where Madrid was born. This quarter has also preserved the relaxed atmosphere of a quaint town. Its narrow streets, centenary markets, and old fashioned taverns and shops are going to amaze you! Our Palace is one of the most remarkable and best preserved in Europe. Inside it, I'll lead you discovering incredible baroque artworks & navigate through a thousand stories linked to the dynasties that occupied the Spanish throne. We'll also walk through the old town and see some of our iconic monuments like Plaza de la Villa, San Miguel Market or Plaza Mayor. You'll surely fall in love with the unique atmosphere of this quarter. I am ready to make your immersion into Historical Madrid entertaining & captivating. On this tour with me you'll learn of architecture, history, traditions, food and will enjoy Madrid like a local.
(If your lodging is in the Old Town area I could pick you up there, but otherwise I suggest that you take a taxi/public transport to meet me close to Orient Square (in front of the Royal Palace*). -Once we've met, we'll proceed to cover the following monuments & areas of interest: -Starting with the Royal Palace, I'll lead you on a guided tour of the interior, enjoying views of the nearby forest. -Next, we'll see the Cathedral & the old Muslim walls. -Later, Plaza de la Villa & Plaza Mayor. -Then it's on to the "Carboneras" convent, with its famous pastries. -Afterwards, St Miguel Food market. If you wish, at the end of the tour I could suggest a bar to taste some tapas & relax! *The Royal Palace is sometimes closed due to State events with short notice, but the nearby Royal Heritage Museums can be a great alternative. Don't hesitate to ask me for changes to the tour, for I could create a customized experience that suits your needs!

This is a walking tour, distances are short but need to be cover by foot as the oldest parts of town are not easily accesible with vehicules.
