My name is Sara. I am licensed guide in Madrid and the sorrounding areas. I hold a masters degree in Fine Arts and since I can remember art, languages, culture and history have been passions. I spent my college years in Madrid. Later I developed a career as an Art Educator and I had brief but fulfilling experiences in Tourism and Outreach. Ultimately, my nomadic spirit pushed me to live and work in other places. Italy, the Basque Country, and the USA were part of this fascinating journey. I returned to Madrid in 2019 after 10 years outside with a renewed appreciation and love for my place. I started guiding in 2016. Immediately I knew I was made for it. Today I feel so blessed to have been able to transform my passion for travel and knowledge into a way of living! Facilitating the discovery and enjoyment of my country to others is a real privilege. Madrid has so much to offer and is full of contrasts. It is a cosmopolitan metropolis, but some neighborhoods still preserve the atmosphere of a little quaint town. Its architecture and museums are incredible, its cultural and entertainment options seem endless and its surrounding areas are magnificent. But what makes Madrid really fascinating is its vibrant energy and its way of life. Let me help you to make the most of your stay, sharing the history, art, traditions, gastronomy, and vitality of my land with you. Let me show you how we are, and why this place is so special. I am looking forward to meeting you here and showing you around. I can offer you a private and customized experience that suits your needs, so don't hesitate to ask me about any modifications in my listed tours. I am also more than happy to work for families, offering a fun and educational experience for the young ones too! I am an Official Spanish Guide able to guide in all the National Museums and National Heritage sites. I can organize tours in all the museums, palaces, and districts of the capital. I hold an Official Guide License to guide Toledo's monuments. I can also guide in all Madrid's fascinating surrounding sites like Segovia, Escorial, Aranjuez, and many more. Although I can drive, I prefer to focus on my guide functions, but I can arrange for a car and professional driver.

Let's discover Madrid oldest neighborhood and the impressive new museum in town, the Gallery of the Royal Collections. Around the Royal Palace and the Cathedral, we can find some of the most important monumental areas and historic sites in Madrid. Visiting the centenary streets and squares of the Habsburg district is like travelling back in time, to the centuries when Madrid was the center of an Empire. In our walk in the Old District we will not miss the famous Plaza Mayor, the Old town Hall or San Miguel market. Facing the Royal Palace we find the amazing new museum building of the Royal Collections, opened in 2023. It holds a superb selection of the best Art and crafts collected by the Spanish Crown throughout the last five centuries. Inside the museum we will also visit the oldest archaeological site in Madrid: the medieval walls of the ancient Muslim citadel. A visit to this collection is a lesson of History and a pleasure for the senses.
If you are staying in the Old Town district I can pick you up there, but otherwise I suggest that we meet in the area of the Royal Palace/Cathedral, close to the main entrance of the Royal Collections Gallery. -During the visit to the Royal Collections, you will discover how the Spanish royals lived and will enjoy the incredible beauty of the art works displayed. Inside the museum we will also visit the oldest archaeological site in Madrid: the medieval walls of the ancient Muslim citadel. -In our walk in the Habsburg district we will stroll in old cobblestone streets, discovering some of the most popular areas of Madrid like the centenary Plaza de la Villa, the lively Plaza Mayor or San Miguel food market. -At the end of the tour I can suggest a bar to taste some local tapas and relax! -Don't hesitate to ask me for modifications to this itinerary. I can create a customized experience that suits your needs.

This is a walking tour, expect walking inside the museum and in the monumental areas. Distances are short but need to be cover by foot.

The suggested meeting point would be the stairs of the main facade of the Almudena cathedral, facing the Royal Palace or alternatively the statue of Philip the IV in Orient Square gardens, between the Royal Palace and the Opera Theater.
