Hola. Mi name is Alfonso. I am a passionate 32 years old guide from Madrid. I have been guiding for almost 7 years all over Spain and Portugal , giving different kinds of tours as both a local guide and tour leader. I have studied business and tourism and I have been professional athlete. WHY AM I GUIDING? Since I was a kid I have always loved knowing new places. I enjoy improvising within those new cities and discovering new places along the way. I am curious about everything. I consider myself to be enthusiastic, knowledgeable, good listener, deep and open minded person. I am a people person. I love getting to know new people and learning from them. I love to travel anywhere and anyway. I have lived in Germany and I have worked and studied abroad in many different locations. When I had a surgery on my hip I had to stop playing sports and start from scratch. I began thinking "what do I like and what do I do well?". My friends would always ask me things like: Where should we go for dinner? Would you come with me to the Prado Museum ? Alfonso, How do we get to this place or that? I have always been interested in history, gastronomy and art : the roots of any place culture. The way we the humans interact with the environment. When thinking about my hobbies and these facts about myself I decided that guiding could be something that could appeal to me. Luckily for me, it worked out. Being a tour-guide is a lot being like a student. I am always studying new things, preparing new activities for the tours and learning from people I meet. I started guiding in the tricky city centre of Madrid and afterwords in other cities, museums, palaces etc. In my tours I love to show the real deal of the places we visit, to have local experiences and if possible to interact with locals. I don't like to ignore controversial topics. To go often off the beaten truck. I invite you to do a tour with me , I would be more than happy showing you my city. Overview of your Madrid tour

Would you like to know and discuss about the Spanish dictatorship controversial topic while visiting the outstanding building Franco built to host his tomb? In addition, these 3 outstanding spots are not far from each other in the Guadarrama Mountains, a Biosphere Reserve which will also provide us with stunning views (perfect for photo shots!) while going from one spot to another. It is one of the last Iberian wolf strongholds, and according to medieval legends, they could be one of the hell's doors. We toured El Escorial and Segovia with Alfonso. It was a cold, rainy, and windy day, but Alfonso still managed to give us an unforgettable experience. Alfonso gave us a wealth of information about the history and significance of the monuments that we visited. The iconic dish of Segovia is cochinillo (roast suckling pig). If you are going to Segovia for that culinary experience, then absolutely book a tour with Alfonso. He knows the owner of the best and oldest restaurant in Segovia. Highly recommended!

We spent a wonderful day with Alfonso. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant company. We learned a great deal because he used the driving time to prepare us for each location before we visited. Both Segovia and El Escorial are beautiful. Valley of the Fallen is certainly unique and helped us better understand the Spanish Civil War. We also had a lovely lunch at a mountain-top restaurant. Very, very glad we did this tour!!

Wow! What a full and fun day with Alfonso! El Escorial, with the monastery, library, basilica, etc... Segovia, with the Aqueduct, most delicious lunch at EL Bernardino, Cathedral, Palace and a special stop at the church of la Vera Cruz... all were amazing! Alfonso shared so much knowledge and detail, that our family of three were able to understand and appreciate the important history of the region. Also a great driver :) Alfonso planned and executed one of our best days in Madrid!

A highlight of my trip to Spain. Alfonso is a delight! He tailored the trip at my request. He's super smart, relaxed and you can tell he loves his job. He quickly gauged how much info I wanted, but would answer my questions thoroughly when I asked for more detail. And he humoured me with taking sometimes goofy pictures. Very highly recommended!
