¡Hola! I'm a 38 year old Belgian historian living in Madrid. I came here for love and on top of that I ended up adoring my new city. I am a very social person so I wanted to share my love for the city with other people. I like cultural activities as going to the movies, theatre and visiting museums, I practice a lot of sports (I love snowboarding, surfing, cycling and triathlon) and I have a passion for languages, books and music. After my Master Studies in History, I started working in development work. I managed projects in Philippines, South Africa and Burundi. My first contact with the tourism business was when I decided to combine my passion for snowboarding with my passion for people. So I became a guide for tour operators in the French Alpes for two winter seasons. Later, I also lived in Istanbul where I worked as a tour guide for a biking company. When I arrived in Madrid and I loved the city so much, I decided to continue my work as a city guide. I adore showing people around and telling stories about my precious hometown so much that my friends even call me Guide Madrid Caroline. I would also love to show you around this wonderful city. I can guide you to the best museums, historical buildings, parks, scenic points or nice places and streets. Always thought flamenco was only typical for Andalusia, the south of Spain? Well, let me proof you the contrary and let me introduce you to one of the most wonderful flamenco sceneries, in Madrid! Flamenco is much more than singing, playing the guitar and dancing. It is an art form with deep historical roots and mysterious traditions. During this tour I'll explain you the history, the culture and the art of flamenco by walking through Madrids flamenco neighborhood. We'll visit Madrids most famous flamenco dance school, see a flamenco artisan shop and have a drink at a very local bar. After all this in-depth immersion in the flamenco culture, we'll experience the art ourself and we will attend a show in the oldest tablao (flamenco bar) in town where we'll see world-class flamenco guitarists, singers and dancers performing. If you truly want to experience flamenco in all of its aspects, you will definitely enjoy this tour!
Your Madrid tour itinerary
We'll meet at your hotel or at a central location in the city center, according to your preferences. I'll take you for a walk through the flamenco neighborhood of Madrid and we will take the time to have a drink at a very local bar. After explaining and showing you all the aspects of flamenco, we'll experience it ourself during a flamenco performance at the oldest tablao (flamenco bar) in town.
