This tour got a great combination of art history and gossips: a display of power of the Hapsburg family, used by Borbones and then heading to the controversial valley of the Fallen ordered by Franco On November 2 1984, UNESCO declared The Royal Site of San Lorenzo of El Escorial a World Heritage Site. It is an extremely popular tourist attraction, often visited by day-trippers from Madrid - more than 500, 000 visitors come to El Escorial every year. The Valley of the Fallen was built as a memorial to those who died in the Spanish Civil War. I am a licensed guide of the Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen MONDAYS CLOSED. BASILIC might close for religious services.

Mayte was our guide for a tour of the El Escorial and Valley of the Fallen in Madrid, Spain. She did an exceptional job throughout the tour, giving us excellent explanations and stories of the sites we were visiting. She was on time and just excellent throughout the tour and very knowledgeable of Spain, its history, and the El Escorial and Valley of the Fallen. Beautiful and enchanting places.
Mayte was great and she is a licensed guide. She arranged the vehicle and everything for us to go to El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen which was so interesting. We came back and avoided the crowds by having lunch along the river away from so many tourists. We walked along the old section of Madrid and even though I had been there I saw so much more with her. It was a great way to end my Spain trip.

The driver and I will meet you in your accommodation. -Drive to the Escorial -Guided tour of this wonderfull palace built up in the 16th century, the cloister and chapter houses of the Monastery, the Royal Mausoleum and the library. The Basilic might be closed for religious services especially on Sundays. -Then we will go to the Valley of the Fallen, it has a croos 490ft that rise above a basilica carved 820 ft deep into the rock. -Guided tour of the basilica -Take and amazing photo of the scenery -Once we finish the tour we will drive you back to Madrid .
