Let me introduce myself. My name is Susana and I've been guiding in Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, and Avila for over twenty years now as a full-time activity, and. . . . here I am, still on stage. I am happy to say that I have done over 500 tours only with ToursByLocals during the last 9 years. This hasn't been my only job ever, I have been teaching languages since. . . always, as this is the family business, and I got to know the tourism industry since I was very young as it was my early passion. Hotels, airlines, tour director. . . All these experiences have made me a very versatile person, which helps a lot with my actual activity. For six years I have been the Chairman of the Madrid Tourist Guide Association, which shows my compromise with and faith in this profession which I find absolutely wonderful, as it is so to be able to share with my guests, my friends, all the magnificent heritage that surrounds me. I find so much satisfaction in seeing how you are delighted with your holiday choice that it encourages me, even more, to make more and more research to share it all with you. I have fun doing what I do as a living and that is the reason why you will have fun too. Who says that museums or history are boring? With this tour we'll get to know the city of Madrid including a Walking Tour through the Old City, visiting one museum of your choice (Prado, Royal Palace, Reina Sofía or Thyssen-Bornemisza, if you want something else let me know) and we'll top it off with the degustation of traditional Spanish tapas. The best way to make the most of your one day in Madrid.
Susana is a wonderfully knowledgeable, responsive, and fun guide! I'm looking forward to the next time I can tour with her! A family of four (2 adults and two kids 10 and 13), we hired Susana to help us tour see the Palace, the Prado and get a feel of Madrid. Susana turned out to be an amazing guide, the best we have had over years of traveling in Europe. Susana aims to educate not just fill you with a long list of facts . What a fabulous tour guide!! Two "senior" couples from US spent two days touring with Susana. We can't say enough about her organization, her knowledge, and her great sense of humor. Visit a Museum of your choice (depending on opening times and days, some might be closed- Thyssen Closes on Mondays and Reina Sofia on Tuesdays, Royal Palace depends on the King's Agenda). After "Work", as we stroll through the Old City and get to know its history, we'll stop here and there to have a bite to eat. If you have dietary restrictions let me know ahead of time, please. Larger groups are welcome too!
