My name is Sara. I am licensed guide in Madrid and the sorrounding areas. I hold a masters degree in Fine Arts and since I can remember art, languages, culture and history have been passions. I spent my college years in Madrid. Later I developed a career as an Art Educator and I had brief but fulfilling experiences in Tourism and Outreach. Ultimately, my nomadic spirit pushed me to live and work in other places. Italy, the Basque Country, and the USA were part of this fascinating journey. I returned to Madrid in 2019 after 10 years outside with a renewed appreciation and love for my place. I started guiding in 2016. Immediately I knew I was made for it. The Prado has strong connections with our history and is a delight for the senses. As a guide with a Master's Degree in Fine Arts, I'll help you to navigate this immense collection. We will explore the big names of Spanish school like Velázquez, El Greco, Ribera and Goya and also foreign artists like Titian, Rubens or Bosch that established strong ties with our country. The Contemporary Art Museum Reina Sofia proudly hosts one of the key works of 20's century's Art: Picasso's Guernica. I will help you to interpret this cultural icon, plus accompany you as you discover the decisive contribution to Modern Art of other Spanish artists such as Miro, Dalí or Buñuel. Sara did an outstanding job getting us around to the most important pieces of art in both museums visited. Without her we would probably have missed many important items. She also provided excellent commentary on both artists and artistic pieces. She is definitely to be recommended.

We can only say the most amazing things about Sara - the tour was one of the best we've ever had. She is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Madrid, the various cultures that contributed, and, most extensively, art history. We had a limited amount of time to visit what was important in Madrid. Sweetie is an art buff, so I wanted to make sure that any foray into Madrid’s extensive art experience was on target. We love Tours By Locals. It was natural to look at the many guides available on this site to explore the primary art museum tour we might access. Sara’s four-hour tour of Prado and Reina Sofia is terrific. It incorporated all we would want to see, while adhering to the half-day we had allocated . Sara is BRILLIANT! A total art historian and expert on how to present the two museums in a four-hour period. We felt she nailed them both, presenting great stories, and putting all in context. She is the absolute best for this tour, and for sure, anything longer. We will definitely us her again!

•Once we met outside of the Prado Museum (except on Sundays, where we'd meet at the Reina Sofia's*), we'd begin the tour sharing a brief history of the Prado institution and the origins of its collection. •Entering the museum, we'll explore the different European schools like the Italian Renaissance or the Flemish masters. •Later we will focus our attention on Spanish painters like Velazquez, Ribera, Greco, or Goya. •Either after a short walk (10 minutes) or a taxicab if you prefer, we'll reach the Reina Sofia Museum (or vice versa). •There, we'll see the celebrated Picasso's Guernica and explore the Art of the first decades of the 20th century, including Cubism & Surrealism represented by artists like Miro, Dali, or Bunuel. •I will make sure this tour is a pleasant, informative and entertaining experience, where you learn about Art, History, Mythology, anecdotes and even some gossip! *On Sundays, due to the museum's reduced schedule we will do Reina Sofia first, reversing the order.
