My name is Sara. I am licensed guide in Madrid and the sorrounding areas. I hold a masters degree in Fine Arts and since I can remember art, languages, culture and history have been passions. I spent my college years in Madrid. Later I developed a career as an Art Educator and I had brief but fulfilling experiences in Tourism and Outreach. Ultimately, my nomadic spirit pushed me to live and work in other places. Italy, the Basque Country, and the USA were part of this fascinating journey. I returned to Madrid in 2019 after 10 years outside with a renewed appreciation and love for my place. I started guiding in 2016. Immediately I knew I was made for it. Today I feel so blessed to have been able to transform my passion for travel and knowledge into a way of living! Facilitating the discovery and enjoyment of my country to others is a real privilege. Madrid has so much to offer and is full of contrasts. It is a cosmopolitan metropolis, but some neighborhoods still preserve the atmosphere of a little quaint town. Its architecture and museums are incredible, its cultural and entertainment options seem endless and its surrounding areas are magnificent. But what makes Madrid really fascinating is its vibrant energy and its way of life. Let me help you to make the most of your stay, sharing the history, art, traditions, gastronomy, and vitality of my land with you. Let me show you how we are, and why this place is so special. I am looking forward to meeting you here and showing you around. I can offer you a private and customized experience that suits your needs, so don't hesitate to ask me about any modifications in my listed tours. I am also more than happy to work for families, offering a fun and educational experience for the young ones too! I am an Official Spanish Guide able to guide in all the National Museums and National Heritage sites. I can organize tours in all the museums, palaces, and districts of the capital. I hold an Official Guide License to guide Toledo's monuments. I can also guide in all Madrid's fascinating surrounding sites like Segovia, Escorial, Aranjuez, and many more. Although I can drive, I prefer to focus on my guide functions, but I can arrange for a car and professional driver.

Discover two of the most relevant Art collections in the world: the Prado and the Reina Sofia museums. Both are located in Madrid Art district, barely 10 minutes away from each other, what allows to enjoy their most iconic masterpieces in the same day! The Prado has strong connections with our history and is a delight for the senses. As a guide with a Master's Degree in Fine Arts, I'll help you to navigate this immense collection. We will explore the big names of Spanish school like Velázquez, El Greco, Ribera and Goya and also foreign artists like Titian, Rubens or Bosch that established strong ties with our country. The Contemporary Art Museum Reina Sofia proudly hosts one of the key works of 20's century's Art: Picasso's Guernica. I will help you to interpret this cultural icon, plus accompany you as you discover the decisive contribution to Modern Art of other Spanish artists such as Miro, Dalí or Buñuel. I'm happy to adapt this tour to your particular interests.
•Once we met outside of the Prado Museum (except on Sundays, where we'd meet at the Reina Sofia's*), we'd begin the tour sharing a brief history of the Prado institution and the origins of its collection. •Entering the museum, we'll explore the different European schools like the Italian Renaissance or the Flemish masters. •Later we will focus our attention on Spanish painters like Velazquez, Ribera, Greco, or Goya. •Either after a short walk (10 minutes) or a taxicab if you prefer, we'll reach the Reina Sofia Museum (or vice versa). •There, we'll see the celebrated Picasso's Guernica and explore the Art of the first decades of the 20th century, including Cubism & Surrealism represented by artists like Miro, Dali, or Bunuel. •I will make sure this tour is a pleasant, informative and entertaining experience, where you learn about Art, History, Mythology, anecdotes and even some gossip! *On Sundays, due to the museum's reduced schedule we will do Reina Sofia first, reversing the order.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
This is a walking tour. The distance between the two museums is less than one mile, but it is possible to take a taxi if you request it.
Madrid, Community of Madrid, Spain
I suggest to meet by the statue of Goya, just opposite of the ticket office of the Prado Museum. https://maps.app.goo.gl/XSsB1tRHqkcyVQuX9. On Sundays we reverse the order of the Museums, our meeting point will be the Sabatini entrance of Reina Sofia Museum, between the two glass elevators.
