This is a very special tour in which you will be accompanied by an art expert with extensive knowledge of the collection and the history of Spain, as well as the Spanish Monarchy. This museum is one of the newest additions to the cultural scene in the Spanish capital and is not yet crowded, making the visit completely enchanting, peaceful, and deeply impactful for visitors, as they discover how impressive and beautiful the collections are. Titian, Caravaggio, El Greco, Bernini! Carriages, ivories, bronzes, fountains, sculptures, antiques, tapestries... the collection is impressive. This tour will show you The Gallery of the Royal Collections in Madrid is an awe-inspiring cultural treasure. Housed in a striking modern building seamlessly integrated into the Royal Palace complex, it offers a breathtaking journey through Spain’s artistic and historical legacy.
We will meet outside the museum, near the Royal Palace, and take a brief look at the history of what is known as the Royal District of Madrid. The building is monumental and elegant. The museum is divided into two parts: the Habsburgs and the Bourbons, the two dynasties that ruled Spain for centuries. -In the first gallery, we will see how the Central European Habsburg dynasty arrived in the Kingdom of Spain and understand how Spain became an empire that dominated the world during its Golden Age. -We will discover works by masters such as Bernini, Titian, Velázquez, Caravaggio and the paintress Lavinia Fontana, and an incredible collection of jewelry, carriages, books, and tapestries. -Afterward, we will go down to the second gallery. It is dedicated to the Bourbons, who arrived in Spain in the 18th century. We will see works by Goya and Mengs, as well as ivory carvings, marble sculptures, musical instruments, and Chinese porcelain. Then you can stay at the museum freely if you still have time or energy.
