Hola. Mi name is Alfonso. I am a passionate 32 years old guide from Madrid. I have been guiding for almost 7 years all over Spain and Portugal , giving different kinds of tours as both a local guide and tour leader. I have studied business and tourism and I have been professional athlete. WHY AM I GUIDING? Since I was a kid I have always loved knowing new places. I enjoy improvising within those new cities and discovering new places along the way. I am curious about everything. I consider myself to be enthusiastic, knowledgeable, good listener, deep and open minded person. I am a people person. I love getting to know new people and learning from them. I love to travel anywhere and anyway. I have lived in Germany and I have worked and studied abroad in many different locations. When I had a surgery on my hip I had to stop playing sports and start from scratch. I began thinking "what do I like and what do I do well?". My friends would always ask me things like: Where should we go for dinner? Would you come with me to the Prado Museum ? Alfonso, How do we get to this place or that? I have always been interested in history, gastronomy and art : the roots of any place culture. The way we the humans interact with the environment. When thinking about my hobbies and these facts about myself I decided that guiding could be something that could appeal to me. Luckily for me, it worked out. Being a tour-guide is a lot being like a student. I am always studying new things, preparing new activities for the tours and learning from people I meet. I started guiding in the tricky city centre of Madrid and afterwords in other cities, museums, palaces etc. In my tours I love to show the real deal of the places we visit, to have local experiences and if possible to interact with locals. I don't like to ignore controversial topics. To go often off the beaten truck. I invite you to do a tour with me , I would be more than happy showing you my city. Did you know that Toledo is one of the greatest examples in Europe of how the three most relevant historically mediterranean religions coexisted? The Sephardic Jerusalem for the Jews. The richest town in central Spain for the Muslims during the Al-Andalus times. The former capital of Spain and currently the religious capital of the country. This tour provides us with a unique opportunity to dive in this outstanding melting pot. I don't know why but Toledo still wraps me with a magical halo. Perhaps it is because its history and its rich background can be felt in every corner What I love most about this experience is that we will be able to visit a mosque, a cathedral and a synagogue on the same day. In fact we will discover the influences of each religion in every building. Hence this experience is not only interesting from an historical, artistic or architectural prospective but also a chance to understand how relative are the differences among religions even more if they lived together in the same town
My family spent two full days with Alfonso. On day one we combined a historic walking tour and culinary experience in Madrid’s city center. We travelled to beautiful Toledo on day two. These were two different but equally enjoyable experiences. Alfonso is a warm and affable personality. He loves to teach and has boundless energy. Highest recommendations.
Alfonso is fabulous! This was our second day touring with Alfonso, and we couldn't have been happier! We took the fast train to Toledo from Madrid, and he had his friend waiting at the station to drive us around on a Panoramic visit of this beautiful city. We started in the Jewish Quarter where Alfonso explained the history of the 3 religions living in harmony for several hundred years. But the highlight of this tour was the Cathedral of Toledo. He explained the history of this awesome sight while blending in information on the fabulous art and architecture. Toledo is a MUST SEE when in the Madrid area, and Alfonso brings it to life!! Again, his warm and charming personality made the day so much fun. There were 4 of us in our group and we would all highly recommend Alfonso!
