Let me introduce myself. My name is Susana and I've been guiding in Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, and Avila for over twenty years now as a full-time activity, and. . . . here I am, still on stage. I am happy to say that I have done over 500 tours only with ToursByLocals during the last 9 years. This hasn't been my only job ever, I have been teaching languages since. . . always, as this is the family business, and I got to know the tourism industry since I was very young as it was my early passion. Hotels, airlines, tour director. . . All these experiences have made me a very versatile person, which helps a lot with my actual activity. For six years I have been the Chairman of the Madrid Tourist Guide Association, which shows my compromise with and faith in this profession which I find absolutely wonderful, as it is so to be able to share with my guests, my friends, all the magnificent heritage that surrounds me. Do you love museums but have so many plans in Madrid that you don't know how to fit them in? Did you know that the Prado Museum has one of the highest world ratings between the total number of pictures shown and masterpieces? This is the perfect tour to get "the yeast" of the most important National Museums in Spain. They are next to each other and the tour will give you the insight you need to get not just the information, but the experience of their masterpieces within their rightful context. Only one but, the Reina Sofia Museum is closed on Tuesdays, that day I can offer you other tour but not this particular one, we could either go to the Thyssen Museum, to the Royal Palace or complete with a walking tour instead. Please, if you are a party over 7, we MUST buy prepaid tickets for the Prado Museum.
Really great experience with Susana who walked us through El Prado and Sofia Reina. Both so chock full of treasures, it can be overwhelming. She focused on a handful of pieces and helped us gain perspective on the artists’ perspectives. Susana was very knowledgeable, very high energy and generous with her time.

Susana’s extensive knowledge of the vast and rich historical context of the masterpieces in both museums is inspiring, fun and very educational. Our family truly enjoyed the packed day of Spanish art. We started in the morning with the Reina Sofia which showcases modern and contemporary art and after a break we continued in the afternoon to El Prado which showcases masterpieces from the 13th to the 19th centuries. We highly recommend a visit like ours to both museums, especially with a guide like Susana as she will give you a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of Spanish art history!
We were lucky enough to book Susana for 3 fantastic tours! On our second tour she took us to both the Prado and Reina Sofia Museums. Her knowledge of art/art history is unsurpassed and she was able to share her exceptional knowledge in an engaging, clear, and at times, humorous way. Her stamina and expertise were truly impressive! Susana was an exceptional guide. She understood immediately what our requirements were and how to keep the whole family engaged. Susana placed all the works we visited in context and even though some were very familiar she made us look at them in a different light. Her insider knowledge also meant we avoided queuing and we managed to enjoy both permanent collections as well as a special exhibition.

Susana's tour of the Prado and Reina Sofia was amazing. We did multiple tours with her, and she tied art and history together so that it was enjoyable and engaging. We learned so much during the tour, and it was a wonderful experience. Susana was great to work with while we were planning, and I highly recommend her.
We will meet either at your hotel or straight in front of the Reina Sofia Museum. After the tour we'll have a little break and continue towards the next museum, either walking or by bus or taxi. We can decide on the spot. The tour will end at the Prado Museum.
