My name is Flora and I was born in Rome but have lived for the last fifteen years in this beautiful region of the North of Spain. I would describe myself as a package of charismatic communication and well-read knowledge. I am an avid traveler, living and working full-time as a guide in the Basque Country for more than ten years, offering private and customized tours to discerning visitors from all over the world. My principal characteristic is that I am a multicultural person since I have lived, studied and been employed in many different countries and areas, all connected by the common thread of languages. This has given me the opportunity to value all the good things every place offers. At the moment, I am living and working in the Basque Country as a Tour Guide as well as a Conference Interpreter and Translator; thank to which I have learned a lot about this territory. I was born in Rome, studied art and graduated in Anglo-American studies; however, I have held on to my curiosity and always try to connect with all my multicultural baggage. I have learned to value the environment of this region in every aspect: Art, environment, modernity, gastronomy, wineries, sport and so on. I take great pride in offering professional and entertaining tours, customized to the client's preferences. My academic qualifications enable me to offer well-researched tours with that little bit extra. I always try to offer my clients the best experience in my working languages, i. e. English, Italian and Spanish. Flora was one of the best guides my wife and I have ever had. Very personable. Very knowledgeable. Took us for a private tour into the Basque region and to a remote yet magical small privately owned winery and vineyard. And topped it off by taking us to one of the best local restaurants we have ever been to.
Discovering stunning Basque coast with Flora was fantastic! As an excellent driver, Flora took us to San Sebastian, where we indulged in the stunning seaside views. We enjoyed a scrumptious lunch atop a cliff, then visited Guernica, a place steeped in history and a truly humbling experience. Flora's extensive knowledge and her ability to weave stories from strands of history, culture, and personal insights are simply delightful. Perfect! Flora was a fantastic guide and customized the trip to my vision. The tour was a combination of history, scenic coast, walking and driving through the picturesque basque countryside. Her enthusiasm for the region and thorough history knowledge was contagious and made me want to move here :). In a short time I experienced several towns interspersed by stunning scenery. Flora responded to emails quickly. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and a good guide. Our tour was enjoyable. My only complaint was we were in a car for the majority of the tour. Drove through beautiful countryside, of lush rolling hills. If I were to visit this area again, I would use Flora again, but would plan a tour with a lot less time driving around.
Flora was an excellent guide. Super informative with history. Brought us on a great route from Bilbao port to Gaztelugatxe, Bermeo, Gernika, and finally a driving tour through Bilbao with descriptions of most everything, including the suspended bridge. She was very helpful at lunch in Bermeo. She translated the menu, ordered, and ate with us. Highly recommend.
We had time for just one day in Bilbao and needed a guide who could tailor the day to our exacting preferences and interests. And Flora delivered on all of this perfectly. From her detailed knowledge of art, and especially the Guggenheim Museum, to the city's culture, history and cuisine, she covered everything. Also adding our requested views of the coastline, city parks and nearby surrounding areas. She made our Bilbao experience as pleasant and comprehensive as we could ever hope for.
