Kaixo! I am Joseba a young euskaldun (Basque speaking person, wrongly translated in to Basque) born and raised in Bilbao. I am an official tour guide in the Basque region and my aim is to get you close to our beautiful land and culture. My career began as an environmental technician, which gave me a great knowledge about our superb nature. But 7 years ago, I decide to move to Berlin and there I found a job that fits in with my skills and preferences: guiding people on their journeys. Since then, I've lived in four countries and guided hundreds of travellers in different parts of the world, until I decide to come back to my beloved Bilbao, three years ago. As a guide, I am a really proactive, serious and passionate one. I am all the time trying to improve my skills and knowledge, always curious about history, folklore and cultural aspects of societies. All my tours can be given in the five languages I speak: Basque, Spanish, English, German and Italian. With all this experience I want to invite you to discover the Basque Country from close, getting in touch with the local people, their tradition and culture, as the surrounding enchanted nature. My way of working could be easily described in two words: Slow Tourism. Come to visit with me the charming Basque Country, you won't regret! Discover about our vibrant culture, delicious gastronomy and ancient history. Grab a Basque beret, put it on and begin to feel like a real Basque! ONGI ETORRI! -Degree in Environmental Science in 2008. -Professional guide in the Basque Country, running my own responsible tourism company with all the permissions and insurances. -Experience as a guide in different countries: four years as a bike tour guide in Berlin and three years as a walking and bike guide in the Basque Country. -Certified titles for several languages: Advanced Certified in English by Cambridge University (C1), B2 in Deustch bei Goethe Institut and E.G.A. (basque language's highest degree). Not allowed to drive with more than 8 people. If you are a larger group, let me know and a bigger vehicle with driver would be arranged.

San Juan of Gaztelugatxe is probably most beautiful place along the Basque Coast. Since Games of Thrones was shot here, it is a must see for every fan visitor. Would you join me on a nice walk along the Basque coast to discover this magic spot? This area is full of beautiful landscapes and superb gastronomy. It has a great meaning for the Basques and even more for me. 40 years ago, my parents got married in this chapel! My family has a summerhouse in the area, so I've been grown up, running on this fields and swimming in the rough Cantabric Sea. I got good memories of family meals in the superb farmer houses of this area. Speaking about gastronomy you will find in Bermeo a great variety of products: the most fresh fish, but also delicious vegetables and meat. What I most like about restaurants in Bermeo is that all their products come from their own town. There are many vineyards of the famous renowned "Txakoli" wine in the nearby town of Bakio: you let me know if you like a tasting experience!
The tour will begin and end at an agreed place: hotel, airport, cruise terminal. . . It takes about 40 minutes dive to get to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. -San Juan of Gaztelugatxe: about two hours hike to the top of the rock. The path is ok, but mind it is steep. Bring proper walking shoes. -Bermeo: 15 minutes' drive to Bermeo. Photostop at Lamera Park and them drive to the port. Walking tour for 60 minutes, and short break for shopping or coffee. -Drive back for 40 minutes. NOT: the hike to San Juan of Gaztelugatxe lasts more or less two hours and the path is steep. The activities could be adapted to your needs: please do not hesitate to contact me to customize your tour.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
