Overview of your Johannesburg tour
Join me on the Cradle of Human Kind tour, known as one of the 8 UNESCO World Heritage site which is an hour drive from Johannesburg. We will visit exclusive sites that will give an overview of the origin of human kind in South Africa. The Cradle of Humankind is one of 10 in the country. It's the world's richest hominin site, home to around 40% of the world's human ancestor fossils. The Cradle of Humankind covers an area of over 47 000 hectares of privately owned land north west of Johannesburg Please Note the Sterkfontein Caves, is closed on Monday.
Your Johannesburg tour itinerary
• Pick up at residence. • We take a drive and our first stop we explore the Sterkfontein Caves; here you will take a guided tour of the caves, which will take you on a journey deep under the earth to the place where the remains of some of the oldest fossils were discovered. (1h30) • We then take a 10 minutes’ drive to Maropeng Visitor Centre, here you will journey back in time from the start of the universe, to the present and beyond. You will also get to view some of the displayed fossils, learn about how humankind was born. (1hour) • Tour ends drop off at residence. See fossils, learn about how humankind was born, view stone tools that are up to one million years old, and much more. We can always customize the tour to meet your expectations.
