Explore Knysna your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Knysna tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Knysna for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Ride the lagoon ferry to Featherbed Nature Reserve for a guided walk above the Knysna Heads, spotting dolphins and seabirds. Your nature and wildlife tours can also include Goukamma Nature Reserve or Diepwalle Forest for fynbos birding, forest giants, and a chance to see the Knysna turaco.

Layover tours: Got 3–5 hours? Your guide times a Knysna Heads viewpoint stop, a short lagoon cruise from the Waterfront, and an oyster tasting on Thesen Island, with hotel or George Airport pick‑up and drop‑off right on schedule.

History tours: Walk the Millwood goldfields at Goudveld and the Old Gaol Museum, then visit Belvidere Church and the Paquita shipwreck site to hear how timber barons and strong currents shaped local history.

Knysna’s Waterfront and Thesen Island are walkable, but viewpoints, forests, and reserves are spread out and public transit is limited. Ask your local guide about chauffeured tours or tours with private transportation for easy hops between stops.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Knysna inside and out.
