I have been in the wine industry either part or full-time for the last 30 years and I have been a wine specialist guide for almost 2 decades. I developed an insatiable curiosity for all the facets of the wine industry when I sat in on some of Cape Wine Academy's Diploma Level lectures. This prompted me to begin my own studies and I have been learning about wine ever since. Someone once asked me how much I know about wine, my answer remains the same today: "I know enough about wine to know that I know next to nothing. " What I do know is that I love taking people on tours through the magical vineyards in the Western Cape. There are so many to choose from and so little time… When you come on a tour with me, you will be treated to interesting out-of-the-classroom lessons and discussions which may include geography, history, science, politics, philosophy, sociology and art, not to mention an introduction to the myriad culinary delights that this part of the world has to offer! I completed the Diploma Courses with The Cape Wine Academy and have been a registered wine specialist tour guide for nearly 20 years. * I don't have any restrictions on my tours.

I would like to share with you, my intimate knowledge of this area that is steeped in history, all wrapped up in spectacular scenery and introduce you to her people. This private tour ventures off the well-trodden tourist paths into vineyards and cellars. We will visit the oldest wine estate in the country and some more modern wine producers. We will go through wineries and vineyards with a quick stop for a light lunch somewhere in between. This region was the very first established wine growing region in the whole of southern Africa. In the 18th and 19th Centuries, the area was famed for its legendary dessert wine Vin de Constance. These wines were of such a superior quality that they were demanded by European royals and aristocrats. Modern winemakers have created their own version of the Vin de Constance style which is also venerated the world over. * My car can accommodate 3-4 people comfortably and, for an additional fee, I can easily arrange to hire a larger vehicle should it be necessary.
* Collection from hotel/ guest house/ ship/ b&b * Travel through glorious landscapes to Historical Groot Constantia for a cellar tour with a Chocolate & Wine Pairing * Visit a more modern Wine Producer for a tasting * Lunch at a local Bistro * Vineyard Tour and Tasting at Klein Constantia * Deliver you back to your hotel/ guest house/ ship/ b&b safe and sound
