I have worked in the wine industry for most of my career, of which the last 24 have focused on wine tourism. Winemakers and wine lovers in the Cape came to know me during the 9 years I worked (and studied) at the Cape Wine Academy in Stellenbosch, kick-starting my journey into wine. I have organised and led wine and food gourmet tours to France and Italy. A born and bred Capetonian with Mediterranean roots, sharing in my hotelier-parents' passion for food and wine, I owned my own restaurant in Stellenbosch, am an intrepid cook and love experimenting, and cooking with friends and family. I am a registered South African Tourist Guide specialising in wine. I have numerous qualifications in wine including a Diploma in International Wine with the Cape Wine Academy, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Brandy. My focus is always on my individual clients and I will always tailor-make my tours with the aim of offering the ultimate personal experience. I'm known to change up the itinerary on the day (once I get to know more about my clients) in pursuit of the perfect experience! I try and avoid wineries that allow large buses and groups - so always the smaller boutique wineries. I want to share our beautiful country, city and it's people, culture and stories with you. Although my passion is for wine, as a cultural guide, I am qualified to do city (see City Orientation Tour), and peninsula (see Peninsula and Penguins) always adding my special touch. Ligia’s expertise in wine and knowledge of the local wineries and staff made for an unforgettable experience in Stellenbosch. Peninsula and city tours were also excellent. Great sense of humor and thoughtful hospitality. Highly recommend!
Ligia was a wonderful guide. We did her 3 day tour of Cape Town. She is very accommodating as we wanted to switch up the days. She know the area well and even took us to a home where we got to make some South African food. She also knows where to go for the best views of the Cape, Table Mountain and Lions Head. She is very knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time touring Cape Town with her.

Amazing 3 days with Ligja. Always prompt, great vehicle, beautiful drive, views are incredible , wine tastings paired to our interests and like spending a beautiful visit with a friend. Special stop in Bo-Kaap home of lovely lady, Gamidah, for samosas cooking lesson and local shop visits. Ligia is a wine expert, not just an enthusiast. The wines we tasted (3 wineries for tasting and one winery for fabulous lunch with more wine, of course) were beautiful and varied. Great memories!! Ligia, we �� you.
Ligia was THE best guide ever. She really knows the wine regions but also has a detailed knowledge of the history of the country which is fascinating. She introduced me to new wines and styles that I have never before experienced so that my wine knowledge has broadened. She took me to all of the key places I wanted to experience even though I know it was hard for her to drive all day. We went shark cage dive at Gansbaai, Table Mountain, the Cape and much more. Always pleasant and attentive to my needs.
My husband and I did a three-day tour with Ligia, including wine country, Cape Point, and Cape Town. She listened to our interests and was able to arrange a few experiences in short notice simply based on comments we made. We were so happy! Thank you for a wonderful trip, Ligia!
