Overview of your Bucharest tour
This tour is the most requested tour and recommended to small groups of visitors who wish to escape for a day from Bucharest, driving through the Carpathian Mountains to the famous Transylvania/Siebenburgen, accompanied by an experienced tour guide, in a comfortable minivan. Along the tour we are going to see two of the most famous castles in Romania, the Peles, a former royal residence at Sinaia and the Bran Castle, related to the legend of Count Dracula. A stop to Brasov, which is one of the seven medieval towns founded by Saxons (Germans), will complete the day trip. The tour is also a good opportunity for you to discover the daily life and habits in the countryside, the local food, and wine taste.

Our group of 6 had an excellent private English speaking tour by Claudiu. Claudiu picked us up in a very nice comfortable Mercedes touring van. He was able to also store some of our small backpacks etc. in the cargo area. We had a very long day tour with multiple stops but Claudiu allowed us to take our time in each place as we wanted and was very accommodating to any requests. Claudiu was also excellent at communicating before our tour to advise on pre-purchasing needed attraction tickets and on other issues. I fully recommend him as a tour guide for the Bucharest area.

Five of us booked this tour with Claudiu. He picked us up promptly from our hotel in a spacious 8-passenger Mercedes van. Claudiu was the perfect guide. He was personable with an extensive knowledge of his beloved country, Romania, and city, Bucharest. He was flexible with his schedule and generous with his time. It was one of the best Tours By Locals tours we’ve had. Traffic into the Carpathian Mountains was heavy but he knew of several shortcuts to get us to our castles for our visits. Even so, the terrible traffic added four extra hours to our 9-1/2 hour tour with him despite his best efforts. Throughout it all he was cheerful and even accommodated a last minute request to stop at the Bucharest Hard Rock Cafe so we could buy some pins for our collection. We enjoyed him so much we booked a tour of the Parliament Building with him the next day. We highly recommend Claudiu.

Your Bucharest tour itinerary
- Pick up from your hotel/location in Bucharest at 8 AM. - Drive to Sinaia Mountain Resort (2h) through the Carpathian Mountains or the Transylvanian Alps. - Visit the Peles Castle, a former summer royal residence of the Romanian kings since 1883, in Neo-Renaissance style and beautiful Art Nouveau interiors. - Lunch at Bran or Brasov. - Visit the famous Bran Castle, related to Dracula's legend, built by the inhabitants of Brasov with the support of the Teutonic Knights in 1377. - Walking tour of Brasov medieval town (optional, if time), one of the seven towns founded by the Saxons (Germans) in Transylvania (XIII century) with a stop at the Black Church and the Schei district, a sample of Romanian culture in the town. - Return to Bucharest late in the afternoon. - Please notice I can tailor-made this tour to fit your preferences. Other: Peles Castle is not open on Mondays/Tuesdays, but can be visited from outside. Also you have to buy online tickets at the time of booking from the official website (peles. ro) of the castle. In November the Peles Castle is closed and we are going to visit the Pelisor Castle, which is part of the same complex.
