Hi, I'm Laura, I am the author and promoter of the Bucharest Step by Step concept and I very much enjoy organizing thematic and custom-made walking tours in and around Bucharest. I LOVE MY CITY BECAUSE: Bucharest may not strike you as a glamorous or grandiose European capital, with a meticulously preserved architectural heritage. But it is precisely this unselfconsciousness coupled with spectacular contrasts and an incredible vitality that makes Bucharest such a unique place. ONE OF THE THINGS I ENJOY THE MOST: to uncover hidden gems and cool spots off the beaten path and share them with tourists from all around the world. Why choose me as a tour guide? - I am always up-to-date with all the new hip places in town - all my tours are carefully adapted to suit your specific interests and needs - on my tours you will receive lots of information and recommendations about what to see and do while in Bucharest Join me on a discovery tour and you will surely come to love this scarred, chaotic, eclectic but fascinating and vibrant city. Welcome to Bucharest! - National Guide License - BA in Foreign Languages (German, English); sworn translator/ interpreter International experience: - ERASMUS mobility scholarship, Ruhr-Bochum University, Germany - CEEPUS Scholarship in Rijeka, Croatia - OEAD Scholarship in Vienna, Austria I do not drive but I collaborate with several transport companies. The Palace of Parliament & the Ceausescu Mansion have their own guides for the interior visits.

With only about 5, 000 members of the Jewish community left in Bucharest today, it is rather difficult to imagine that in 1930 it represented up to 11% of the entire city's population. The Jewish quarter was severely affected by the Fascist pogrom in the 40s, followed by the demolitions initiated in the 80s by the communists, with most streets simply wiped out and 6 synagogues and Jewish temples demolished. Nevertheless, some emblematic buildings like the Great Polish Synagogue and the legendary Barașeum Theater have survived and are here to tell their stories. I will take you on a trip down history lane and share about some of the most influential Jewish personalities, like the Dadaist and Modernist architect Marcel Iancu and his landmark buildings. We discover the major sights and cultural icons of the former Jewish Quarter in Bucharest and find out about a darker period of Romanian history.
This is a suggested itinerary and it can be customized to fit your preferences. •The History Museum of the Jewish Community "Moses Rosen" •The State Jewish Theater - Housing the former legendary Barașeum theater •The Choral Temple - Inspired by Leopoldstädter Tempel in Vienna •Great examples of Modernist and Art Deco architecture - designed by Romanian-Jewish architects •Solly Gold block - Designed by one of the founders of Dada movement, Marcel Iancu •Old inns - the remains of some of the most famous inns in Bucharest
