Hello! I am Silvana, a passionate tour guide at your service. Welcome to Romania! Let my young demeanor not fool you - I am a BA in Art History with a master's degree in Museum Studies and a keen interest in social history, responsible tourism, and lifelong learning (among other things). A shepherd community turned oriental capital. . . called Little Paris of the East!. . . yet famous for the second largest building in the world?! Who could make sense of all this in just a few hours?! Why. . . you, of course. With a little help from a local friend-to-be. :) The best way to truly understand Bucharest is through the eyes of somebody that not only knows its secrets but also loves its chaotic ways. That would be me, a Bucharester licensed in art history and passionate about the city's many surprising details. I will be more than glad to share with you the stories and numbers and most importantly - my joy of walking its streets and admiring its unique mix of. . . pretty much everything. Join me on a relaxed trip through the city's oldest parts, where history was written. It might not be Florence or London, but I'll make sure you have: a wonderful time, yummy traditional food, and great photos. Who knows - maybe you'll also fall in love with this peculiar place called Bucharest.
What an amazing tour with Silvana. We all learned so much the city and it's rich history. She stay with us the whole day and was so generous with her time and really helped us on all aspects of our trip even beyond the tour. I'd Highly recommend a tour with her !!!!!!
Great tour with an amazing guide. Silvana was awesome! Incredibly knowledgable about the sights and also so personable and fun. Learned so much about this complicated city and its tumultuous history including the Communist/Ceausescu period and his ignominious end. What made the tour special though was Silvana, it was like taking a long walk with a friend while learning along the way. We talked about so many different things and even ran into one of the Presidential candidates while walking through the park... đ She also responded immediately to a last minute restaurant recommendation request that ended up probably being my favorite meal of my six days in Romania. Highly recommend Silvana!
An excellent and enthusiastic guide, Sylvana was particularly knowledgeable about local art and architecture and was able to customise our Tour to reflect this mutual interest .

On this walking tour, I will take you to all the major sights including: * The Romanian Athenaeum (optional interior visit; closed during concerts and rehearsals) * The former Royal Palace, nowadays National Art Museum (closed on Mondays & Tuesdays) * Revolution Square * University Square * the Old Town with interior visits to various 19th-century inns and the most important medieval churches in Bucharest * Union Square from where you have a nice view of the Palace of Parliament Keep in mind that this is no more than a proposed itinerary. Flexibility is my middle name so do not hesitate to write to me should you have any particular interests related to the downtown area of Bucharest.
