Hello, My name is Andrei. I was born and raised in Bucharest, and over the years, I turned my passion for history, photography, food, and cultural travel into a career as a licensed guide and professional tour leader. I’ve had the chance to work with travellers from all over the world, both in Romania and across Europe. I create experiences that feel personal, relaxed, and genuinely connected to the places we explore together. Outside of guiding, I enjoy photography, discovering local cafés and restaurants, exploring architecture and history, and meeting people from different cultures. I love finding the small details that make a place memorable: a hidden courtyard, an old local story, a family-run restaurant, or simply the atmosphere of a neighbourhood. For me, travel is not just about seeing famous landmarks. It’s about understanding a place's character and experiencing it more authentically. As a guide, I enjoy sharing both the well-known highlights and the more local sides of Bucharest. It is a city full of contrasts, where elegant historic buildings stand next to communist architecture, lively cafés, local markets, and stories shaped by centuries of history and cultural influences. Romania itself is incredibly diverse, with medieval towns, mountains, traditions, folklore, and regional food culture that often surprise travellers. My goal is to help people experience not only the sights, but also the atmosphere, stories, and local perspective behind them. I think a good tour should help travellers understand the city in a way they cannot on their own or from a guidebook. Every traveller experiences a place differently, and that is one of the things I enjoy most about guiding: adapting the experience to the person in front of me. On my tours, the focus is on how you experience the city while providing context for the layers of the places we visit together. More often than not, people do not remember every name, date, or piece of information they are given, but they remember how they felt and the small details that are easy to miss at first. The most memorable moments often happen in between the main sights: during a conversation, in a hidden courtyard, or in a place you would never normally think to stop. That is why I believe a good tour should feel like spending the day with a knowledgeable local friend. I would love to show you Bucharest and Romania through the places, memories, local perspectives, and everyday details that shaped them.

Bucharest has a remarkable story, shaped by elegance, ambition, monarchy, communism, art, architecture and reinvention. This tour is designed as a complete introduction to the city, combining the historic centre with places that reveal the wider story of Bucharest and Romania. We start in the central area, where the city is best understood by walking. Victoria Boulevard is flat, elegant and full of landmarks. This part brings together royal history, communist memory, cafés, old banks, passages, churches and the Old Town. After exploring the historic centre on foot, we continue by private van into the wider story of Bucharest: grand boulevards, architecture and national identity. The Ceaușescu Mansion offers a rare look at the private life and power of Romania’s former dictator. The tour then connects Bucharest with the rest of Romania through village architecture and regional heritage. A story-led half-day experience for travellers who want history, culture and heritage in one carefully designed tour.
We start at your hotel or at the Romanian Athenaeum, with an introduction to the history of Romania and Bucharest. We continue to Revolution Square, where we discuss the monarchy, the Royal Palace, communism, Ceaușescu and the 1989 Revolution. From there, we walk along Victoria Boulevard, stopping by the Odeon Theatre and the Military Club. Here we stop at Slone for a coffee-and-toilet break and briefly discuss Bucharest’s coffee scene, one of the best signs of how the city has changed in recent years. We then enter Old Town, where we visit Marmorosch Palace, the National Bank, Lipscani Street, Marmorosch Palace, CEC Palace, Caru’ cu Bere and Stavropoleos Monastery. After the walking section, we meet our private van and driver, drive around the Palace of Parliament, with a photo stop, then visit Casa Ceaușescu with its official guides. We continue to Arch of Triumph for a history lesson and photo stop, followed by a guided visit to the Village Museum. The tour ends at your hotel or in the Old Town.

For the driving section of the tour, we use a private, air-conditioned van with a professional driver. The vehicle is comfortable, clean and suitable for sightseeing around Bucharest. The exact model may vary depending on availability and group size, but it will be appropriate for the number of travellers booked on the tour.
Ateneul Român, Strada Benjamin Franklin, Bucharest, Romania
We will meet in front of the Romanian Athenaeum, by the main entrance with the columns. It is one of Bucharest’s most recognisable landmarks and is easy to find by taxi, Uber/Bolt or public transport. I can also pick you up from your hotel, if it is central and convenient for the route. I will send more details about the meeting point the day before the tour, and on the morning of the tour, I will send a short description of what I am wearing.
