Magical Trakai from Vilnius - Private tour of Lithuania's Historic Capital

40min drive outside of Vilnius there is a town called Trakai, considered the de facto medieval Lithuanian capital because Duke Vytautas the Great preferred the natural landscape punctuated by azure lakes and lush islands over Vilnius. Trakai Castle is a red brick, fairy-tale like fortress built by Vytautas and his father in the 14-15th centuries to fend off Germanic knights. After our visit to the main attraction - the Trakai Island Castle - we'll take a serene walk through Trakai to explore and learn more about the history and Karaim people. The story of this unique ethnic group started in Lithuania in the 14th century and is still flourishing today, therefore in no way can be separated from the story of Trakai. An absolute must do when in Trakai - trying traditional Karaim cuisine specialties, such as kibinai (savoury meat pastries). Please note that this tour can be customised to your wishes.
