Two World Heritage Sites Private Tour - Hiroshima/ Miyajima Full Day Tour with Government Licensed Guide

We had a wonderful day in Hiroshima with Michiru A. This was a very full day, both in the number of places we visited and in the emotions that come with experiencing Hiroshima's history. We began at the Peace Memorial Museum and then walked through Peace Memorial Park, including the Atomic Bomb Dome and several important sites nearby. Michiru did an excellent job explaining the history of the bombing, the tremendous impact it had on Hiroshima and its people, and the remarkable resilience of the Japanese people as they rebuilt their city and their lives. The Peace Memorial Museum was extremely crowded on the day we visited. Unfortunately, the crowds were so heavy that we were essentially unable to see the exhibits. We had hoped to spend only a limited amount of time at the museum, so this was not a reflection on Michiru or her guiding. I would actually like to return another time, on a quieter day, when I can experience the museum properly—or perhaps read a book about the exhibits beforehand so I can better understand and appreciate what is there. After the Peace Memorial Park, Michiru took us to the boat for our trip to Miyajima. Arriving on the island and seeing the great floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine was a beautiful contrast to the solemnity of the morning. The gate was absolutely gorgeous. Michiru recommended a little restaurant where we had a quick but delicious lunch, and we enjoyed browsing the shops along Omote-sando Street before making our way back to the ferry and ultimately to our ship. I especially appreciated how Michiru guided us through such a difficult and important part of history with sensitivity and respect. She helped us understand not only what happened, but also the impact it had on Hiroshima and its people, as well as the remarkable rebuilding and resilience that followed. It was a memorable and, at times, very solemn day. Michiru was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and a very good guide throughout the experience. I would happily recommend her to anyone wanting to learn about Hiroshima's history while also experiencing some of the beauty of the area, including Miyajima and the iconic floating torii gate.

Can’t say enough good about Michiru. We had multiple allergies and she accommodated all of us. With a tour group of nine of all ages, she guided us through trams, trains, and ferry without a hitch. She was very knowledgeable and made the trip a delight. Highly recommend her!

Excellent tour!

This was probably the best and most organized tour we had in Japan, Michi had a plan to tell the story of Hiroshima, and her explanations of the shrines and monuments we saw was terrific and made for a powerful experience. Look no further if you need a Hiroshima tour.

Michi was a great guide. Very knowledgeable about everything we saw. She met us right when we got off the train and stayed with us as much as we needed right up until we got back on the train. Absolutely book her for a day trip from Kyoto or Osaka. No need to have a guide ride the train with you. We saw all the sites and even a surprise boat trip to Peace park. She helped make this a very memorable day.
