Hi. I'm Michi. I'm a National Licensed tour guide in English. I would like to introduce many faces and charms of Japan and make your stay in Japan more fascinating and satisfying. I was born and raised in Hiroshima. My first English tour was as a volunteer guide for visitors to my school when I was a junior high school student. It gave me a great opportunity to study about the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. I spent my life in Hiroshima except for 6 years; 1 year in the UK when I was a student and 5 years working in Singapore and Malaysia. During this period I have enjoyed meeting and talking with people from different cultural backgrounds. These experiences encouraged me to be a licensed tour guide. In Hiroshima, there are two famous World Heritage Sites: the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima. I have experienced many tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Park since I was a junior high school student. I would like to introduce you to the a-bomb legacies that are still existing in the city and the stories under the mushroom cloud. I also would like to share time with you on a historic island, Miyajima. There is one of the most famous Shinto shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. There we can share an enjoyable time by exploring a sacred atmosphere, tradition, nature, food, etc... I am also an official 'A-bomb legacy successor' designated by the City of Hiroshima. An A-bomb Legacy Successor is a memory keeper of the A-bomb survivors. To ensure that the A-bomb survivors' experiences and desires for peace are faithfully inherited and shared with as many people as possible, the City has started a three-year training program for official 'A-bomb Legacy Successors.' It is possible to include my lecture in my tour. It would be appreciated if you could let me know BEFORE your booking. In this tour, we will visit 3 popular sightseeing spots that you can't miss in Hiroshima. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum: The Atomic Bomb Dome is a symbol of world peace and hope for the total abolition of nuclear weapons. It is located in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. We will visit the A-Bomb Dome, the Hypocenter, some memorial monuments, and the Peace Memorial Museum. Hiroshima Castle: The castle was destroyed by the Atomic Bomb. It was rebuilt in 1958 and made into a historic museum of Hiroshima. And it will be closed on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Shukkeien, a Japanese garden: The garden was created in 1620 by a local clan as a villa for Asano feudal lords. We can enjoy the scenic beauty of nature amid the town throughout the year. * During the tour, we also visit some a-bomb survived buildings, trees, etc. . . . more on your request. We have a terrific full day tour of Hiroshima with Michi. She has clear and thorough explanations - the full day was set up wonderfully. We never could have seen and understood everything on our own. Her discussion of survivors was moving. We had a delicious lunch of Okonomiyaki and then ended our day in the beautiful Japanese garden.
Our group of 4 had a Fabulous day. We met at the Peace museum and she provided a wealth of knowledge regarding Hiroshima both before and after WWII. After touring the museum and gardens, we walked through a shopping area, ate at a wonderful local restaurant, visited the botanical gardens and finally the castle. She was so kind and accommodating to any request. Highly recommend!
My husband and I hired Michiru for two days while we were in Hiroshima. She took us around Hiroshima on the first day and she took us to the island of Miyajima the second day. Wow. Hiroshima was a somber experience, but very much worth a visit. The second day we reached Miyajima by train and then by ferry. This island is famous for its giant torii gate in the water. Definitely worth a visit! We enjoyed our visits to Hiroshima and Miyajima and recommend Michiru as your guide!
Reached out to Michi inquiring about a private tour to a lesser-known island. She responded quickly with a detailed to-the-minute day-trip plan. Over the next several days she worked with me to revise the plan, and even helped me make bus/train/ferry plans after the tour ended with her. Getting to the island would have been very challenging without her since I don't speak Japanese and no one on the island spoke any English. Highly recommend Michi.
Michi created a very personal tour for us that perfectly aligned with our interests. She also planned the timing at each site so we did not need to rush, but we were able to visit as many destinations as possible. She picked out a very nice local spot for lunch that provided us with a unique Japanese experience. At the end, she gave a one-hour PowerPoint presentation at the Peace Memorial Museum that personalized the experiences of the Japanese people after the atomic bomb. It was a very moving day!
