This guided visit presents one of the great Renaissance-era palaces, housed in the Oltrarno District, the Pitti Palace originally belonging to the Florentine banker L. Pitti and which was actually home to three dynasties including the Medici, their successors, the Lorraine then finally the King of Italy. Its architecture and gardens inspired and were a prototype to other European royal palaces such as Versailles or the Residence in Monaco. The palace today hosts with its Palatine Gallery the most extensive collection of late Renaissance and Baroque: Botticelli, Titian, Rubens, Caravaggio and many other painters from the XVth to the XVIIth centuries. The tour will continue by exploring the Oltrarno located across the river Arno, the feel of this characterful quarter is that of a village within a city, a wealth of artisans' workshops can be found here, and Florentines who still live in this part of the city away from the beaten track. What are you waiting for? I will make you experience Florence as a local!
