What is the Renaissance and what makes Florence the cradle of this Renaissance? Join me on one of my walking tours and I will tell you all about it. The art, the architecture but also the social history, all come together to make it an instructive yet highly enjoyable experience (there’s no exam at the end). Also, many are the less frequented Museums and churches in Florence, where you can find yourself in front of an absolute masterpiece, and no one around to bother you.

This tour focuses on the first three Medici rulers of Florence but also on the Renaissance, a period with which this family's name is so often associated. The context is one of unprecedented development in style but also a change in mentality. The 3. 5 hour walk takes us through important venues: the San Marco Museum, the Medici Riccardi palace, the church of San Lorenzo and the Medici Chapels. As with all the tours I lead, my aim is to make your visit both informative and enjoyable. There is no exam at the end of the tour. WARNING: Even though bookings are not generally necessary, they are recommended. The venues all have peculiar opening hours and days. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS TOUR, CONTACT ME BEFORE MAKING ANY BOOKING REQUESTS. It is strongly recommended that you make your enquiries well in advance of your planned visit to Florence.
Bearing in mind that I can customise the tour in order to accommodate any specific needs or wishes you may need, my tour begins in Piazza San Marco, to see: - the Convent and Museum of San Marco, with its 43 chambers decorated by Fra Angelico. - Via Cavour. - Palazzo Medici Riccardi. - Piazza San Lorenzo. - Church of San Lorenzo (the complex comprises the cloister, the crypt, the Medicean Laurenzian Library and then the church itself with the Old Sacristy). - Medici Chapels (with the Mausoleum of the Medici and Michelangelo's New Sacristy).
