After six long years, the famous Vasari Corridor, built in just six months for a wedding in 1565 by the architect Giorgio Vasari, is now open again to the general public. This tour takes us through the Uffizi Galleries, to view the masterpieces therein, before taking the approximately 45 minute walk through the famous private passage (2/3 of a mile) used by the Medici Grand Dukes to reach their residence in complete secrecy on the other side of the Arno river. Aside from being an architectural marvel, it exemplifies the kind of pursuit of power and prestige that was the hallmark of the Medici dynasty. And, yes, it also features in Dan Brown's famous novel, Inferno. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS TOUR, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE MAKING ANY BOOKINGS. Availability of tickets is restricted and timing will be an important variable.
The tour starts with the Uffizi Museum. Then, at the chosen time, we convene in room D-19, where the tour takes us out of the Museum, down the river, across the Ponte Vecchio, all the way to the Boboli Gardens, behind Palazzo Pitti, the Medici residence. YOU are responsible for booking and purchasing the tickets, on the official website webshop.b-ticket.com. Tickets are €43 + €4 = €47. Please note that the time you choose to book the tickets must be exactly 2 hours into our tour. For example: say you want to start your tour with me at 10:00 AM, you must book the tickets for 12:00 PM. Please also REMEMBER to BOOK 1 EXTRA, FREE TICKET FOR ME, at €0 cost. Without it, I cannot go with you through the Corridor.
