Palazzo Pitti is located on the left bank of the Arno River, at the foot of the Boboli Hill. The austere palace conceals immense rooms, finely frescoed from the mid-16th to the 19th century. It was the residence of the Medicis, the Habsburgs, Napoleon's sister, and the Kings of Italy. Strolling through the magnificent halls of the palace, you'll feel like guests of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. The frescoed ceilings narrate legends of Greek mythology, the windows offer enchanting views of the Boboli Gardens, and the walls of the apartments are adorned with hundreds of canvases by Italian and international artists. The Palatine Gallery, on the main floor of the palace, houses a priceless collection of paintings from the 15th to the 17th centuries, including masterpieces by Raphael. Furthermore, the palace houses tables crafted using the Florentine inlay technique, whose beauty will take your breath away.
Your Florence tour itinerary
We meet in front of the Palace entrance, linger in the beautiful courtyard, and then visit the summer apartments on the ground floor (Museum of the Treasury of the Grand Dukes). We then move to the main floor and visit the Palatine Gallery (winter apartments) with its extraordinary collection of paintings, furniture, statues, and marvelous frescoed ceilings.
