You can take the most of it as in this tour I will select for you locations off the beaten track, but also get a glipse at major attractions. Both in Pisa and Lucca you could spend a few hours or even days or come back here again, but still got something to grasp about its fascinating history. In Pisa beside the well-known leaning tower, there is so much more to explore. A discovery through many streets and alleys along the River Arno will give you the chance to admire beautiful architecture of colorful palaces. The city is also home of the University of Pisa, one of the oldest in Europe that goes back to the 12th century. Galileo Galilei the father of modern science was born in Pisa and it is here where he studied most of his life. I will take you then to Lucca, this is the 100 church city, with an exemplary Roman amphitheater converted in an amazing square. Either walking or cycling along the well-kept 16th citywall we will also taste the real 'Buccellato' a sweet bread with aniseed and local specialities.
Pisa: - From train station walk to the city center - By strolling along the Arno river we will see lots of great places for food but also great views of historical buildings like the Royal Palace and the Blu Palace - We then carry on walking towards the famous Piazza dei Miracoli so could admire the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the Leaning Tower (only outside) -Piazza dei Cavalieri and its Palazzo della Caravana I will tell you stories related to the Medici family and other influential rulers of Pisa history Lucca: - From train station an easy walk to the city center - Walking or cycling along the 16th century city walls - Visit the Romanesque and Gothic style Cathedral dedicated to St. Martin the patron saint of Lucca - Piazza Napoleon also known as Piazza Grande the center of the city's political power - Piazza S. Michele in Foro, with its 13th cent. church - The Roman Amphitheater, with its vibrant square to admire And any special interests you may have, let me know!
