Original Florence Off The Beaten Path Half Day Tour

I spent a beautiful morning tour with Catherine. She picked me up at my hotel and we walked her amazing city. She tailored my tour to perfection. She shared many nuances that you might not get from the basic tours. We walked the markets the artist streets, gardens, churches and she shared her expertise about history art and architecture popping into to local shops to learn about the unique history of artisans and antiques, food and culture. It was truly a pleasure to spend time with Catherine and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an unique tour and moving at a perfect pace to see the beauty of Florence. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Oltrarno neighborhood of Florence. Our guide, Catherine Glasser was wonderful. We had been to Florence several times before and had seen the usual sights, but other than a previous tour of Pitti Palace had never toured the other side of the Arno. Oltrarno is very different than the popular tourist areas around the Duomo. It has artisan shops of all kinds, great neighborhood restaurants, a beautiful piazza lined with cafes and two churches that are must sees especially if you are into Michelangelo and medieval frescos. Catherine picked us up at our hotel for the walk on time. Her knowledge of the history of Florence and its ruling families was impressive as was her knowledge of art history and she kept us engaged all morning as we explored Oltrarno. If you are looking for something different in Florence try this tour. You won’t be disappointed.

We very much enjoyed our tour of the Oltrarno district of Florence with Catherine. She was highly knowledgeable, flexible, responsive and greatly added to our appreciation of the city.
