Hi and welcome to Florence! My name is Silvia and I've been working as a professional Tour Guide for almost 20 years. I work mainly in Florence but I'm licensed also for Prato and its district. My big passion and interest for art and local history started thanks to my "babbo" (as we call our dads in Tuscany), as at home I grew up surrounded by books about Florence (he has always been a compulsive reader and so am I). I started reading about the Etruscans and the Romans, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the Medicis and Michelangelo… and so when I finally had the chance to attend the class for becoming an official local guide I went for it! The course lasted 300 hours and included all different things: archeology, art, history, botany, folklore, tourism legislation etc I happily passed the exam and since then I've been working as a guide in Florence and Prato, allowing me the chance to show some of the most famous artworks to people coming from all over the world. This is still something that gets me emotional and makes me feel very grateful. As for the tours I can offer there's really a wide choice but I think the ones not to be missed are those including Michelangelo's David or the Botticelli's paintings in the Uffizi. But even just walking in the streets of Florence - with its narrow cobbled alleys, its medieval towerhouses - it's a neverending discovery and sometimes a total surprise, especially with a local guide that can show you its best kept secrets. I have a large experience with private and small groups, including families and solo travelers. Besides I love traveling and I love cooking (actually I love eating more then cooking :)) and I recently focused on planning new tours in Florence related to food and local traditions. So, if you're planning to visit and would like to do that with a passionate and knowledgeable guide contact me, I'd be honored to show you around my wonderful city! Licensed tour guide in Florence and Prato, and both districts. Diploma at Liceo Linguistico N. Copernico in Prato Degree at Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori in Florence University degree in Art History Even if my calendar shows no availability, feel free to get in touch. I can organize private transportation by private car and driver. Just to clarify, I only arrange hotel or port pick-up and drop-off through the driver. I will meet you at the meeting point. For easy communication on the day of the tour, I suggest downloading WhatsApp on your smartphone.

We'll explore together the vibrant and lively district of Santa Croce, an area with ancient origins still holding a strong sense of community. The Franciscans arrived here in the Middle Ages and built the church facing now the main square of the district. Inside the church, there's a real treasure: not only frescoes, beautiful cloisters and the famous Pazzi Chapel, designed by Brunelleschi but especially the monumental tombs where illustrious men such as Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli are buried. But the tour is not only about history and art but about food as well, as after the visit inside the church we'll head to the famous food market of Sant'Ambrogio, where locals still go for their daily food shopping. The market's explosion of colors, voices, and flavors is the best way to experience the real Florentine vibe.
We will discover: • Piazza San Firenze • Via della Vigna Vecchia • The Wine Windows • The Church of Santa Croce (inside) • Piazza dei Ciompi • Market of Sant'Ambrogio -We will visit the highlights from the outside but the tour can be customized due to your preference, please ask me for a quote, and I will send you a customized tour for booking NOTE: The tour can be done from Monday to Saturday, starting from 8 to 11. On Sunday the market is closed. Churches and Basilicas may not be open to visitors due to religious masses or functions, the guide is Not responsible, in which case the guide will explain from outside explain from outside.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
