Michelangelo in Florence

A tour dedicated to the greatest Florentine artist: Michelangelo. Michelangelo spent his youth in Florence, here, he was born and mades his first steps to become a sculptor, protected by the Medici since he was 15 he then became the famous artist worldwide known. During this tour we'll go through his life, since his childhood until his death looking at the most important masterpieces he did in Florence.

The tour will start at the Galleria dell'Accademia, the gallery houses since 1873 the gigantic statue of David sculpted by Michelangelo when he was 26, we'll continue our walk towards the Medici Palace, the place where he lived for two years protected by Lorenzo the Magnificent. After that we'll go in the San Lorenzo neighbourhood, once the Medici one, and where we can see the church to listen to the story of the never made façade that what supposed to be made by Michelangelo, what happened? why Michelangelo never made it? I will tell you all the story about it. The church of San Lorenzo is the great Medici mausoleum, all the members of the family are buried here, we'll enter the Medici Chapel to see the New sacristy completely designed by Michelangelo with two tombs sculpted by him for Lorenzo and Giuliano De Medici. We'll walk then into the medieval area to reach the church of Santa Croce. This is where Michelangelo rest in peace since 1564 together with the most important Italians such as Galileo.
