Ciao! My name is Giacomo and I was born and raised in a small medieval village on the rolling hills west of Florence, where I still live. I have been working in the tourism industry since 2003, starting originally as a tour leader across Tuscany. I specialized as a local guide for Florence in 2008, and since then I have been engaging mainly as a freelance tour guide in the Florence area. As a Tuscan of many generations, I am in love with my homeland - which is a very special part of Italy for its artistic, historical and cultural value - and I greatly enjoy when I can facilitate the experience of discovering and absorbing the extraordinary beauty of which Florence and Tuscany are so rich. Starting the early 1400's, the Medici family deeply influenced the destiny of Florence, through its crucial contributions to the artistic and cultural development of the town during the Renaissance. Before dying in 1743, the last member of the family changed that destiny with her legacy, turning modern Florence into the richest repository of art treasures in the world. Our focus during this tour will be the stories about this family, and the main aspects of its most important members. We will do that while discovering the downtown landmarks that were the symbols of the Medici power. Therefore we will start from the Medici Riccardi Palace - their first major residence in town where Michelangelo lived with them. We will then visit Palazzo Vecchio, that became their residence in the mid-1500's, when the duke Cosimo I turned it into the glorification of his family. Finally, externally following the route traced by the Vasari Corridor, we reach Palazzo Pitti.
Giacomo was a great guide who really enjoyed his work. He customized our tour of Florance to a four hour tour that left us plenty of time for shopping and dining before our trian ride back to Rome. We hit all the highlights and enjoyed the day!

An outstanding experience! Even though the rain tried to dampen our tour, Giacomo kept us engaged and hanging on every word. The tour was a highlight of our Florence visit, and we enjoyed it immensely! There were no questions he could not answer, and his sense of humor and love of Florence and its history was contagious! I really enjoyed this tour. The Medici have been an interest of mine for years. It was fantastic to see the city where they lived, how they impacted the art world for generations, and hear the good, the bad, and the ugly about them. Giacomo was a wonderful guide taking us through the way they lived, conducted business and rose to power. A very tough and interesting family. The Medici chapel is a must-see part of this tour!!
