Hello! My name is Armando, I am an expert of Italian art, history, archeology and culture, and I have been working as an official tour guide for over twenty-five years. I am originally from Rome, I moved to Vinci, Tuscany a few years ago - birth place of the famous Leonardo da Vinci, 25 miles West of Florence -, and I am specialized in private tours of Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Vinci and all of Tuscany. I provide my guests a great summary of some twenty centuries of history most cities boasts, telling them about art and archaeology, past and present, local culture and every day life, and how all is inextricably combined. Overview of your Florence tour

On this tour, we'll first visit Palazzo Medici Riccardi, masterpiece of Renaissence architecture by Michelozzo, once residence of the Medici Family. Then to the nearby San Lorenzo Church, where the Medicis were baptized, married, and buried. I'll show you the Medici funeral chapels and tombs including the ones made by Michelangelo. We will then visit Palazzo Vecchio, originally called Palazzo della Signoria, the governing body of the Republic of Florence, until Cosimo I de Medici made it his residence in 1540, signaling the Medici family's control over Florence. I am not going to give you a lecture, I'll be informative but I won't overdo with too many dates and names; I'll make your visit fun with anecdotes and legends, and you'll have time to enjoy a coffee or ice cream: I know you are here on holiday and your holiday is meant to be enjoyable and fun!

I'll meet you at your hotel/accommodation in Florence, or in Piazza San Lorenzo, or in another agreed spot in Florence. - Palazzo Medici Riccardi (inside - masterpiece of Renaissence architecture by Michelozzo) - Church of San Lorenzo (inside - designed by Brunelleschi in the early 15th Century) - Medici Chapels (inside - including the Sagrestia Nuova - "New Sacristy" - designed by Michelangelo) - Piazza Signoria (open air collection of statues) - Palazzo Vecchio (inside - site of the Republic of Florence, since 1540 Cosimo I de Medici made it his own residence) With me as your guide it will be easier for you to listen the tour despite the everyday crowd, and I'll be happy to accommodate your requests by going faster through sites that don't interest you or stopping longer to see what's more relevant to you.

Children younger than 18 years old pay only for the reservation fees or they have a discount. AN ID IS REQUIRED TO PROVE THE AGE OF THE CHILDREN by the museum entrance. For group of 4 guests or more, the use of headsets in the museums is mandatory. I'll provide the head sets for you. Cappelle Medicee is closed on Mondays, and have free entrance on the first Sunday of the month without priority access; Palazzo Medici Riccardi is closed on Wednesdays; Museo Palazzo Vecchio is closed on Thursdays; San Lorenzo Church is closed on Sundays; I can still provide you this tour even if one of the sites is closed on the day you book the tour.
