Ciao! Hello there! I'm Laura, a proud Florentine and I can't wait to make you fall in love with my city! I was born in Florence, 47 years ago and I grew up breathing the beauty and history of my hometown while simply living my teenage daily life. I have always loved books and was curious about the past which made me decided to become a medieval archaeologist: I studied here in Florence, where the spirit of the Middle Ages still walks the streets and lingers between the towers and the churches, floating in the thousands of paintings that can be found in Florence. As an archaeologist, I've met people from all around the world and worked for many years in Italy and in Jordan, and in time discovered that hidden beneath the surface of archeology was in reality the discovery of my passion in telling real life stories about the real people of the past. Thus I decided to become a tour guide! As any real Florentine, I'm really proud of my city, not only because of its beauty, but because of it's spirit, it's shyness, in spite of it's obvious magnificence, and I love to convey this spirit to my guests. I don't just want to "guide" you, I want to take you by your arm and let you fall in love with the real Florence. I really enjoy the contact with people, even with younger kids, and can transform myself in a real storyteller, well trained by years of reenactments! Most of all I really love the idea of engaging the whole family in a fun experience of edutainment. Since I was a teenager I have always had a passion for photography and started taking pictures during my high school years and never stopped. I still wander around with my camera, so I can also take you on a photographic tour, to discover Florence in it's magical moments. But most of all, what I love most is tailoring tours and experiences together with my guests, matching your interests and giving you the chance to experience your "personal" Florence! PhD in Medieval Archaeology Teacher in the graduate school in Archaeology, Florence University I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Lines in Florence are quite usual: also if we have tickets in our hands we'll have to do some lining to visit the Uffizi or the Accademia museums.

Florence and the Florentines have always been in friendly terms with the islamic countries and cities of the Mediterranean area, since the beginning of the great power of Florence and it's economical and social development in the Middle Ages. I am a medieval archaeologist and with a team of colleagues, the Laboratori Archeologici San Gallo, I sewed together a lot of these little attractions in a plot and turned them into a tour. Our long work in Jordan made me curious about the incredible craftsmanship of the Near East and I was happy, and even moved, in finding statues, bronze masterpieces, frescoes and, last but absolutely not least, one of the most beautiful, interesting and rare collections of islamic objects in the world just in my Florence. Come with me to discover the hidden jewels in this different tour of Florence, I will lead you down a path full of wonders, through frontiers which were also bridges and roads to exchange and spread knowledge.
This tour will give the chance to re-discover some famous masterpieces of Florence from a completely different point of view: - the SS. Annunziata front cloister - the Baptistry to meet the first islamic signs of our hunt. - the Medieval area of the city, always mixing the history of the Republic of Florence with the suggestions from the Near East and the other side of the Mediterranean - the Orsanmichele stones and statues - a little church in the very heart of Florence with a hidden "treasure" taken in Jerusalem If you are not tired still, we can add a short visit to - the Bargello Museum, visiting the astonishing Islamic room and some other masterpieces hiding some "strange clues". You will end with your eyes looking at a different Florence! And if you have any special interests or wishes, I will be happy to customise this tour for you!
