Highlights of the Uffizi Museum of Florence

The Uffizi Gallery houses some of the most important examples of Renaissance art anywhere in the world. It is also home to the biggest collection of Roman statuary outside of Rome. This wealth of artworks was collected over the centuries by the Medici dynasty. Visiting a museum means making choices about what to see. The selection will obviously include Giotto, Fra Filippo Lippi, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Tiziano and goes through to the beginning of Baroque with Caravaggio and some of his famous followers (among them a woman, Artemisia Gentileschi). Before entering the Uffizi, a brief introduction will be made in order to set the stage for a tour of the Museum itself.
