Ciao! My name is Giacomo and I was born and raised in a small medieval village on the rolling hills west of Florence, where I still live. I have been working in the tourism industry since 2003, starting originally as a tour leader across Tuscany. I specialized as a local guide for Florence in 2008, and since then I have been engaging mainly as a freelance tour guide in the Florence area. As a Tuscan of many generations, I am in love with my homeland - which is a very special part of Italy for its artistic, historical and cultural value - and I greatly enjoy when I can facilitate the experience of discovering and absorbing the extraordinary beauty of which Florence and Tuscany are so rich. It will be a pleasure for me to welcome you to my region, and accompany you throughout your journey in Florence. Your tours can be diversified and customized based on your interests and preferences. Just tell me what you like, and we will tailor it together - whether you are traveling by yourself or in couple, with your family and kids, or as a small group of friends or relatives. I am looking forward to meeting you! Licensed Guide of Florence since 2008 Certified Tour Leader since 2003 University Degree in Foreign Modern Literatures and Languages (French, Spanish and English), 1995 Member of AGT (Official Tour Guides Association of Florence) If my calendar seems full, don’t hesitate to contact me anyway. I may still be able to accommodate you. I can organize private transportation by private car and driver. Please note that I provide pick-up and drop-off at the hotel or port only through the driver. I will meet you directly at the designated meeting point. For easy communication on the day of the tour, I suggest downloading WhatsApp on your smartphone.

This tour focuses on the most important religious building in town - the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore - and on the different components that form the so-called "Duomo Complex". We will start our visit from the stylish Baptistery - the construction in town that since the XII century has preserved its original appearance. Its interior is exquisitely decorated with lavish mosaics, that represent the most magnificent medieval artwork available downtown. We will then visit the imposing cathedral, whose outstanding dome was completely frescoed in the 1500's with the largest painted surface ever created on planet Earth. Through the Duomo we can access the ancient crypt of Santa Reparata - the previous cathedral of Florence still partially visible underground - and you will be able to see the multi-layered foundations of the city. Our tour will end inside the recently refurbished cathedral museum, which is considered the most important religious artwork collection in the world.
The tour itinerary includes: Republic square - the ancient Roman town center; The Duomo Complex: San Giovanni Baptistery; Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral with Brunelleschi's dome and Giotto's bell tower; Santa Reparata crypt; Opera del Duomo Museum. Please be aware that the cathedral is not fully visitable on a Sunday and on other main religious festivities. IMPORTANT: -Please write me if there are people with mobility problems and if you use or need a wheelchair, the itinerary will be different. -This tour includes all tickets to visit the Duomo complex, but if you would like to go up together to Brunelleschi's dome and/or Giotto's bell tower, we can add 1 or 2 hours to the tour, please contact me.
