Emilia P.
Hello everyone! I’m Emilia, a licensed tour guide for Florence and the surrounding areas. I have...
Itinerary not perfect? Message Emilia P. to build a tour that’s just right for you.
On this tour, it could be said that we'll get to enjoy 2 art museums: the Accademia Gallery, and a sort of open air museum displaying the beautiful statues that the Medici family commissioned to celebrate their power in the city. The Accademia on the other hand, besides the David, also presents unfinished works by Michelangelo, for example, the "Prisoners". Since it's unfinished, it actually shows how our most famous artist actually carved the massive blocks of Carrara marble. Besides this, we'll also admire Florence's religious complex, constituted by the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, better known as the Duomo, decorated with its polichrome marbles and dominated by its impressive Dome, the Baptistery and the Bell Tower. Given that this is a walking tour, I advice you bring comforable shoes as well as a bottle of water. Also, if you book during the summer, don't forget to bring a hat, sunscreen & sunglasses! If you're booking in winter, I suggest bringing a raincoat or small umbrella in case it rains.
·Once we've gathered, the tour will start with me providing an introduction of Piazza della Signoria, where besides the sculptures, we'll take in the beautiful facade of the Palazzo Vecchio. ·Later, we'll move along the Arno river's bank to enjoy the Ponte Vecchio, the only bridge that is full of jewellery shops! ·We'll then stand outside the beautiful Florence Cathedral and see Brunelleschi's Dome. ·Next, we'll make a quick photo stop at St John's Baptistery. ·What follows will be seeing the imposing Giotto's Bell Tower. ·Finally, we'll carry out our visit to the Accademia Gallery (bare in mind that for security reasons, all visitors must be checked with Metal Detectors before entering). This tour can be customized according to your preferences. Please contact me if there's people with mobility difficulties and if you're in need of a wheelchair, for in that case the itinerary will be different.
