I am a native Newyorker who calls Florence "home". I first came to Florence as a university student to study its art and history over 20 years ago. . . and I never left. After years of experience as an instructor of Art History for an American study abroad program, I decided to share my interests and passion for art with travelers. So when I am not teaching, I love taking visitors around the town, showing them all the sites from an insider's point of view. My tours are not boring lectures with an overload of dates and facts, but fun and fascinating visits to the city's top sites weaved with intriguing tales and stories that put all the art into context. Learn about the life and times of Florence's great masters. Understand the art-making process and various artistic techniques. Get real insight into the history, art, and culture of this beautiful city. I can easily tailor a tour to fit your style and interests, whether you are a first-time visitor or a wanderlust art-lover. Join me for some interesting walks through town and museum visits with an "educational" twist for intellectually curious travelers! Official licensed tour guide of Florence and native English speaker. Degrees in Art History from Fordham University (B.A.) and Syracuse University (M.A.). I am not a driver. I can arrange for a professional driver to pick you up and drop you off at your port of call.

I will never get tired of telling this unbelievable story! Take a dive with me into the world of the Florentine Renaissance. Learn about the remarkable life of Michelangelo and hear the tales that transformed him into a legend in his own lifetime. Walk with me down the streets trampled by a rebellious son of a notary who, breaking all the rules, became one of the greatest artists of all time. After walking through the city to uncover the sources of Michelangelo's early inspiration, let me lead your way to the Accademia Gallery. Here, we will admire Michelangelo's colossal David. Learn how Michelangelo was able to transform a block of marble - quarried before he was born and left to weather away by two other sculptors - into a masterpiece. The David is an awesome sight to see; its beauty and grandeur are unmistakable. But it is only after hearing the story behind the making of this colossal, that you will truly understand why it is considered one of the world's most astonishing works of art.
