A Day with Michelangelo - Private Tour (Aussi en Français)

We start our experience about Michelangelo by visiting the Family House, where two of Michelangelo's earliest sculptures are in display. Then we move to the nearby Bargello which houses the most significant collection of Early Renaissance Sculpture. Our visit will focus on important masterpieces such as Bacchus, David-Apollon and the very famous Tondo Pitti, a fine example of "non-finito". Our stroll then will take us to see David, the unfinished "Slaves" and St Matthew at the Academy of Fine Arts. We round off the tour with the Medici Chapels, the private mausoleum of the Medici Grand Dukes, where you can admire Michelangelo's New Sacristy and his Medici Tombs. In The New Sacristy Michelangelo designed a structure filled with motion and tension. The Medici Dukes are represented seated like two classical Roman warriors. On the arched covers of the marble coffins we can admire the powerful personifications of Dusk and Dawn, Day and Night, some of the most significant examples of Michelangelo's sculpture
