I've lived in Dublin city centre and suburbs all my life, and the history of Dublin and it's stories are endlessly surprising, even to someone who lives here. Since I've started with ToursByLocals I've found it to be a lot of fun, and very rewarding to see visitors really engage with the real Dublin! These are the streets of James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Bono, Sinead O'Connor, Arthur Guinness., (and some baddies too, like Henry the Eighth and a couple of Cromwells..) . . I take little detours when asked (which is a LOT), and I like to make sure that my friends who book onto my tours have the best of times! As a professional musician and producer I've also got some unusual insights into some of the secrets of this world, with the ocassional behind the scenes tale or two. I also have a very special relationship with Dublin's Ha'Penny Bridge, as I personally brokered the deal to make Fender Guitars in honour of Gary Moore and Phil Lynott from the bridge itself! Dublin is an old city, but it's not a museum, it's also a brand new city - this is the same throughout all of Ireland - and I enjoy showing visitors how these worlds live side by side, so you can have fun while being amazed at the same time! Overview of your Dublin tour

This is a lot of fun! Dublin is a great oul' place altogether, and you could easily get lost in it's personality, it's history and it's charm - I frequently do! There's Old Dublin, and New Dublin, and the diddly eye bits and the music bits, and the bits where we fought for our freedom, a few stray bullet holes here and there too. Five hour walk through some of the most popular and interesting places in Dublin, along with some fun and little known facts behind some of the famous stories of this wonderful city. Walk in the footsteps of James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Bono, Sinead O'Connor. . . Stopping off for some lovely Dublin food, and maybe a pint along the way in one or two of Dublin's famous pubs. I'm not a historian, so you won't need to be taking notes, just a few selfies! You're on your holliers in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, so this is a nice little adventure through the cobbles and the stories.

Fantastic walking tour of Dublin with Dermot. A wonderful start to our stay in Ireland. Dermot was incredibly knowledgeable and kept the tour fun and interesting, stopping in for a pint at Temple Bar, and giving us insight into the deep rooted music scene of ireland.

We spent a fantastic afternoon walking through Dublin with Dermot. He mixed his wonderful knowledge of Irish history with highly entertaining stories. He went above and beyond for us. We could not recommend him more highly.

The tour has been fantastic and we have really enjoyed it. We have seen places we would not have seen walking around for ourself. The information given was really interesting. Dermot was really responsive and he showed us places which are connected to places we have seen on our road trip through Ireland, for example the Powercourt Townhouse. We surely will come back! :-) Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

Your Dublin tour itinerary

1 - Dublin's City Centre - O'Connell Street and The GPO (General Post Office) , which was the scene of the 1916 Easter Rebellion. 2 - Crossing O'Connell Bridge with the bullet-riddled statue of Daniel O'Connell 3 - The iconic Ha'Penny Bridge is one of Dublin's most romantic places, and the story of this bridge will prove very close to your heart! 4 - Temple Bar, a lovely area to walk through, a creative heart of Dublin with plenty of music venues, recording studios, 2nd hand shops & restaurants 5 - Dublin Castle - 800 years old and still imposing 6 - Christchurch Cathedral - 1, 000 years old, a stunning view, always mesmerising. 7 - The Buskers on Grafton Street 8 - Stephen's Green 9 - The 'Doors Of Dublin'- what are they?? 10 - Trinity College - Sunshine or rain, the courtyards of Trinity are a magical place. Sometimes I extend this tour just so we can take more time at locations of special interest, it's no problem at all!
