Private National Museum and Gallery Tour

Ireland’s story is told not only through its paintings and artefacts, but also through the remarkable buildings that house them. On this private three-hour experience we explore both the National Museum of Ireland and the National Gallery, discovering the layers of history within their collections and architecture. Beginning at National Museum on Kildare Street, we encounter extraordinary treasures from Ireland’s ancient past, including prehistoric gold, early Christian masterpieces, and Viking artefacts that illuminate the beliefs and lives of earlier societies. A short walk brings us to the National Gallery, where paintings by Irish and European artists offer another lens on Ireland’s story.

National Museum of Ireland (Archaeology) We begin with Ireland’s earliest story through remarkable objects from prehistoric and early historic Ireland. Highlights may include the Bog Bodies, Bronze Age gold such as lunulae and torcs, the Tara Brooch, and Viking artefacts from Dublin’s Norse past. Together these pieces reveal the beliefs, power structures, and daily life of Ireland’s early societies. National Gallery of Ireland A short walk brings us to the National Gallery where paintings offer another lens on Ireland’s story. We explore selected works by Irish artists including Jack B. Yeats and discuss how art reflects Ireland’s people, landscape, cultural identity and struggle for independence. Tour finishes at the National Gallery, close to cafés and Georgian Dublin.
