Sit back and enjoy this amazing guided tour through the Boyne valley, on the approaches to Trim castle horses abound as this is some of the best grazing in Ireland. Trim castle is the largest Anglo Norman Castle in Europe, constructed in 1172 by Hugh de Lacy. He was granted the liberty of Meath by King Henry II. This is the actual film location for the Brave heart movie. Enter this massive medieval fortress on a fully guided tour. The castle keep stands 3 stories tall and is 20 sided, protected by deep ditches and surrounded by huge curtain walls. Enjoy spectacular views from the castle keep across the river Boyne, and the medieval town of Trim. We depart Trim castle along narrow country lanes through wonderful rolling countryside to visit the Hill of Tara. Tara was Ireland's royal acropolis in ancient times. Spectacular views across most of Ireland await us as we explore the ancient religious, political and cultural capital of Ireland. 142 of Ireland's High Kings ruled from this ancient coronation
