A walk designed to explain and investigate the traumatic events that occured in Dublin between 1916 to 1923. Starting with gun-running and the fight for home rule, the threat of civil war and the eventual outbreak of WW1. Visit sites associated with the fighting the shocked the British Empire. Dublin Castle, the GPO, Liberty Hall and the Moore Street battleground. Learn of the executions and deportations that laid the foundations of the War of Independance and subsequent conflict. The Anglo-Irish treaty, the partition of Ireland and tragic Civil War that ensued will be explained. These are some of the most important events that shaped modern Ireland and still reverberate today.
Sites visited are all associated with events that occured in the Easter Rebellion, War of Independence and Civil War. Starting in Trinity College we then visit the following sites- St. Stephen's Green, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, Liffey River, O'Connell Street, Moore Street, Rotunda Hospital and Liberty Hall.
