Join me on this tour of Bodh Gaya, the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destination in the world. Located in the state of Bihar, India, it's here that Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment beneath a bodhi tree (Ficus tree) 2600 years ago and became Buddha (the 'Awakened One'). The exact spot is now marked by the sprawling Mahabodhi temple complex (UNESCO World Heritage). In this very serene place, we'll see monks from all over the world sitting at the foot of an enormous carved Buddha statue, reading holy scriptures, and in deep contemplation. The town is also home to dozens of Buddhist monasteries, maintained by various Buddhist countries that I'll show you. Your Bodhgaya tour itinerary
-After Breakfast, visit the Mahabodhi temple, Bodhi tree, Vajrasana or Diamond Throne, and other places in the temple complex. -Later, visit the 80 ft giant Buddha statue, Archaeological museum, monasteries, and Sujata Garh and Niranjana river. -Lunch break and rest for a couple of hours in the Hotel. -In the evening, visit the Mahabodhi temple to experience the incredible ambiance of the temple complex where Buddhist monks and pilgrims of different countries perform their rituals and Pujas. -Later, return to the hotel. ***FYI mobile or any electronics item not allowed to Mahabodhi temple. Camera with proper ticket allowed.
