Bodh Gaya : Follow the Paths of the young Buddha

As a somewhat well-known travel writer ("The Geography of Bliss," among other titles), I don't usually leave reviews like this. But I am making an exception in the case of Amar. He is that good. He was flexible, working with me to shape an itinerary that fit my needs. A native of Bodh Gaya, he is extremely knowledgeable, and conveys that knowledge with patience and kindness. He clearly is passionate about the region, and India as a whole. He is not merely "phoning it in." He even helped me improve my rudimentary Hindi! If you are in or near Bodh Gaya, I HIGHLY recommend booking a tour with Amar. You will not regret it.

We had a wonderful, very full day with Amar. He went out of his way to be at the platform in the morning when our train arrived and stayed with us until we got on the train at the end of the day. He worked hard to fit most everything of our long list of places into the limited hours we had in Gaya and even found ways to add another few great experiences along the way. He was beside us to guide, educate, facilitate and photograph, but also allowed for some quiet time to meditate at Mahabodhi Mandir. On our drive through the countryside between Gaya and Bodhgaya, Amar’s commitment and service to his community was truly inspiring. We feel fortunate to have had met this kind soul. Jai Mata ki!

Highly recommended. The tour guide provide me a good experience exploring the city of Bodh Gaya. According to my time limitation, he was able to cover every places that I should go.

Our tour with Amar was very smooth and ideal pace for our group with 2 elderlies. He told history very well. The tour includes more places than listed on the page. It was really worth the value of the trip, especially if you're a bigger group of 4-5 people. We were 4 initially but had 1 more. He didn't even charge extra. He helped get us a sim card. We also looked everywhere for litti choka but didn't find any. He's so kind to offer the dish homemade by his wife! Delicious!! We truly appreciate that!!

I would highly recommend Amar, he did a very good job taking care of my daughter and I in every little detail, made my day a memorable one. I couldn't have done it without him showing us around gaya with his knowledge.

Amar is an extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful and considerate guide. He tailored the tour to what I wanted to see, set up an amazing lunch with a local family, and even stopped to get herbal medicines when I was coughing a lot. I cannot recommend him enough! Book with him, you won't regret it!
