Explore Rajkot your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Rajkot tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Rajkot for every interest, including:

Layover tours: Get airport pick-up, then fit in Kaba Gandhi No Delo for a quick look at Gandhi’s childhood home and a short walk through Jubilee Garden to the Watson Museum, with a stop for hot ganthiya and jalebi at a popular farsan shop on Dhebar Road before your on-time drop-off.

Religious Sites tours: Join morning or evening aarti at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, visit Ramakrishna Ashrama for quiet prayer and the library, and add Ishwariya Temple or a half-day trip to Jalaram Mandir in Virpur, with your guide advising on dress codes, prasad, and photography rules.

Architecture tours: See the carved wooden courtyards at Kaba Gandhi No Delo, the 19th-century Watson Museum building, and the Indo-Saracenic façades of Rajkumar College, then head out to the rock-cut Khambhalida Caves or the Naulakha Palace in Gondal for ornate balconies and royal halls.

The central cluster around Jubilee Garden and nearby lanes is walkable, and auto-rickshaws and city buses are easy to find, but many temples and palaces sit far apart. If you prefer less transit time, you can book chauffeured tours with private transportation or ask your local guide to arrange a car.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Rajkot inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Rajkot

Use Rajkot as your base and head out on easy day trips to nearby towns, coast, and hills, with your tour shaped around what you like to see and how you like to move.

Junagadh and Girnar: Walk the ramparts of Uparkot Fort, see the Adi Kadi Vav stepwell cut into rock, and take in the intricate facades at Mahabat Maqbara, then choose to climb part of Girnar’s steps or ride the ropeway for views and temple visits, which suits history fans, hikers, and those interested in faith sites.

Gondal: Step into Naulakha Palace for carved balconies and a small but interesting royal collection, look in on the vintage car display, and visit a khadi or weaving centre to see handspun cloth, a calm day that fits design lovers, families, and anyone who likes heritage done at a slower pace.

Jamnagar: Explore the old city lanes and bandhani tie-dye workshops, circle Lakhota Lake and its island palace museum, and hear the famous chant at Bala Hanuman Temple, with time for salty-air walks by the coast or simple birdwatching around wetlands in season, a good mix for culture and nature interests.

Porbandar: Visit Kirti Mandir at Gandhi’s birthplace, stop by Sudama Temple, and see daily life at the fishing harbour while you sample local snacks, an easy coastal circuit that appeals to history buffs and casual city explorers alike, and works well on a full-day tour.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Rajkot most travellers miss.
