Explore Nainital your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Nainital tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Nainital for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Join your guide at dawn for birdwatching in Pangot and the Kilbury forest, scanning for laughingthrushes, Himalayan griffon, and playful langurs, then ride the ropeway to Snow View for a short forest walk with big mountain vistas. Prefer lakeside nature? Take a quiet paddle on Naini Lake and continue to Sattal’s wooded trails to spot butterflies and barking deer between the seven lakes.

Religious Sites tours: Step into Naina Devi Temple for the morning aarti and hear how this Shakti Peeth shaped local life, then continue to Hanuman Garhi for hilltop views and a serene idol visit as the sun dips. Add St. John in the Wilderness to see its stained glass and old cemetery, or take a short drive to Kainchi Dham to learn about Neem Karoli Baba’s ashram and its global devotees.

Off The Beaten Path tours: Walk the shady Thandi Sadak with your guide, then follow a quiet lane to view historic Gurney House from outside while hearing stories of Jim Corbett in Nainital. Venture farther to Khurpatal and Sariyatal for crowd-free lake views, visit a small candle-making workshop to pour your own souvenir, and sit down to a simple Kumaoni lunch at a family-run homestay in Pangot or Ramgarh.

Naini Lake’s edges and Mall Road are walkable, but slopes are steep and many sites sit several kilometres apart; local buses and shared jeeps exist, yet taxis are more common. If you’d like to keep things easy, you can book chauffeured tours or ask your local guide to arrange private transportation between stops.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Nainital inside and out.
